I get that a lot of frustration simply comes from a lack of information, so I want to leave you guys with some tidbits of Ranked Play knowledge to help sate that bloodlust;

Everyone loses MMR in a "soft reset" going into each new season if they placed before. This means that most players will be placed lower than they ended the 2017 Season with. Can you stay at the same Rank or even go up? Yes! but your MMR must've been really good for the Rank you were at, so it's unlikely.

Why can't I Duo with my friend that was in the same Rank as me before the reset? That's probably due to one of you being punished and losing your Ranked rewards; if you lose those, you're counted as Unranked by the system (though your MMR will not be affected).

Hi even tho this will most likely be diregarded as one bronzie player hear me out. Last season i decided to try ranked out. I played 20 games before i decided it wasen't the best because of my horrible fps and didint want to affect the players around me bc i had no idea what happened in a team fight. I was placed bronze 3 before i decided to just have fun with the game even tho i had low fps. Now i want to take the game more like a competition but i was left affected from my old season. I got a new pc thats great but now i have to either create a new account which i have to rank u first get champs then try and place high. I have spent lots of money on my current account so to throw this one away is something i will not do. But this dosent seem like a new Season if your old one is affecting you now. I understand where you guys are getting at but you also have to look at what will help both people and not just let the ppl who deserve to be a little bit higher wether thats bronze 1 or silver. And not affect so much people as a whole just cause you want people who are new to not screw up others games which i have almost never encounter other than most likely now for how i have placed. I went 6-4 in this one getting a positive score in all my games and even though this sound like every bronze 5 player. deserve to be a bit higher..... EDIT: i have played 20 games and half of the 20 games i have had ppl who have no idea what they are doing and a game where some one was inting and we flat out lost. i have had 2 out of 20 games where i had a negative score and i won 15/20 of these games and its just bc the jg top or supp have no idea what they are doing!!!!

if you deserve to be a bit higher win games and promote; thats how ranked works. The placements aren't the entirety of ranked, and the games played after the placements are how you determine your actual rank.

Yeah This would be true if it was humanly possible to climb out of Bronze V. I ranked Silver III last season in promos. And since I wasn't that great so I demoted down to Bronze III before the season ended. This season, I'd like to say I'm more than an OK player. But I have been pushed all the way down to hell, Bronze V, due to my B3 season end. Now, I am in a place where a win is literally a coin toss. I am seeing Jhin tops, dual tops, elise supports. Just very stupid things. And everytime I get to 100 LP, which isnt hard, its like every series I get the most garbage teams possible and can't promote. This system needs to change. If climbing is the point, placing people where they should be based on their promo matches won't affect it. It will allow decent players to play against decent players and climb that way, not hoping your team is the team not full of jackasses. Rant over

Not impossible, just very hard unless you are an amazing player to begin with. I was at the absolute bottom of bronze 5 last season about halfway, managed to climb to silver 1 by the end of the season. However, my alt account never even got into bronze, started silver and managed gold 5 last season. Gold 3 season after starting in silver again...

My first season I was bronze 4/5 until I found my champ. Easily hit gold every year now. I dont exactly love my main but im averaging a 65% winrate on it so I play for the gold rewards and then go to normals.

True, I did my placement matches, got bronze 1 then spent several months trying to learn new champs and learn my role in more depth, so now I'm currently trying to get out of bronze. If you deserve the rank, you need to play to get it I guess.

I relate! I main support and I've been trying to climb, but no one knows how to carry in bronze so I've decided to take matters in my own hands by playing mid top and adc but it's still so difficult. Also way too many trolls in bronze it's ridiculous. Not saying I'm amazing or anything but I definitely can't depend on team mates.

Hit Gold 5 last season, won 6/10, did really well every game. I check my actual performance post game on third party programs so I know I do really well. Get bronze 4. Not even mad this time, just done.

How are you supposed to win 3/5 games to get from B1 to S5 if you get 3 consecutive feeding top laners against no skill meta champs like cam and ill, like wtf and then your whole team flames you even though you're the only one positive and trying to snowball all the lanes. Now im back to 50 lp with a raging headache and actually gonna quit the stupid game where the company Riot games care only for themselves and the money they receive. Because with all the money that people pay riot cant even give back a single penny to all its users because without the players Riot games would be nothing, but they continue to disregard anything the players say and just take advantage of them. Honestly, Im actually quitting after play almost 3 years of nonstop league, I'm fed up cant take how toxic the community is and how much it makes me and how angry and frustrated it is.

I placed 2-8 in placements, with more than 5 of the games because laners don't know how to not be shit.

The fuck am I supposed to do when I'm actively getting countered as the first pick of the whole game AND my team is a bunch of feeders? 2 of their team both have higher ranks than the entirety of my team. I'm also in promos. Gotta love this matchmaking system.

How they expect me to actively 1v9 if I'm also firstpick and I don't have all champs? You don't see LCS players first-picking their mid-laners...there's a reason why.

Why are toplaners so fucking bad? I have never queued up for top lane in ranked ever but do you have to take a "braindead-test" before you queue up so they actually know you are braindead before you queue up for toplane? Can't we just remove the entire lane? And while we are already doing that, can't we remove botlane and jungle too? That would make the game A LOT more fun and easier to carry.

Why do people who purposefully go afk, note this, THINKING the game is lost already, but the game is not even started or over, and it's definitely winnable, why do they go unpunished completely? I had a person flaming and intentionally feeding last night, he sold all his items and ran it down mid. Today I got a Thresh playing support for me, and he went afk telling me Varus is a useless adc late game, and that it's lost. Why don't these people get punished at all? Why is behavior like this allowed ingame? If I for once type kys in the chat and someone reports me, I would get banned for sure. Why do players who throw games purposefully and intentionally feed continue doing so in other games?

8/10 wins. Placed Silver 3 [Solo] Was gold 5 last season. Cannot comprehend these new runes even with that win loss ratio. Can't practice in norms because of premade squads. Am practicing in flex, where they might take it seriously. Solo que not only am I not refined enough to handle the situation but in addition people who have learned poor habits from flex show up there, so might as well go all in or not at all. Silver 3 in both flex and Solo. Was gold in solo was silver 1 in flex. Won less games in flex. 6/4?

I understand placements are where you start the year and do not define what will happen. That being said, I went 8-2 in placements. 7 of those games i graded at least an s-. I was placed Bronze III. I ended last season in B3. Why is it that the games in placements are not evolving difficulty to better determine the outcome. If it was decided that I could not get higher than where I ended last season, WHAT IS THE POINT OF PLACEMENTS? Why not just leave people at their rank or give a straight demotion to the entire community and do away with placements? Had i been at the lp I was at during the end of last season during the 8-2 "placements", I would have a higher rank than i currently do. This is absolutely ludicrous.

Hi, if any Rioter is reading this can i please know what is wrong with my mmr i was 2/4 at first in my placements but then i won 4 games in a row and after each one of them my mmr kept getting lower and lower til i got 6/4 and got placed g4.... I just wanna know what the hell happened there and if it is possible to review that or something ?

really wish riot would do something about boosters already, no reason for me to be getting bronze ass players in my games. Also tired of people who dont care about throwing games just because they have other accounts, they need to be ip banned

Been away from the game for about 2.5 years..I came back with no knowledge about new runes and maps etc. I was always a bronze player,never willing to climb up but now i have changed i want to climb but suddenly i cant..some players are so hard to cooperate with..some just insta rage if someone happens to die or lose a tower or even a "?" Ping will tilt them..I try to be better and not rage at all but sometimes its just unbearable i lose control..and play like shite..I try to main jungle so i dont have to be with someone in lane to fuck me up..But i cant even get to promos..i had to tell it somewhere and get it out of me..Best wishes to all of you climbing

If you are in your Promo Series for a new Division, winning 2 out of 3 of the matches will promote you to the next Division. When going for a Tier promotion (such as from Silver 1 to Gold 5) you'll need to win 3 out of 5 matches. Demotions can happen when you are at 0 LP and lose a match.

So I go 4W/6L and get put into Silver V, the last season I participated in was 2016 where I got Silver III. I can't complain about that placement but the way they score players is literal trash.

As a support main I am completely at the mercy of my adc. I've played games where my adc was wonderful and we both carry the team. But I've also played games where I had to go AP soraka at lv 10 because my adc was absolute shit. I usually outperform my adc 6/10 games where I'll have more kills and 4x less deaths with more assist than the whole team combined and get an S. Then take the same -20 hit when my team loses as I just can't 1v5 as Zilean or Braum when the enemy team knows you're the competent one.

The fact I can go Braum and get 3/6/21 and my Jhin adc who flames me all game goes 2/17/8. This shouldn't even be a thing, and I sure as hell shouldn't be losing points for it.

I could guarantee that if I could convince a competent silver adc to duo with me I could at least make sure we're never the reason we lose games.
