Ranked borders: Wouldn't it be more enjoyable if they changed division to division like other games?

I feel like handing them out at the end of the year is a bit dated and just not as motivational to play for day to day. All the other games I play or have played use a rank to rank or division to division system so I can visually see and feel the progress i'm making more easily to both myself and others.

Obviously you can see the change in client somewhere, but I feel like seeing that border change every few games (whether up or down) would be a nice motivational kick, and showing it to others every game would drive someone to try harder as well.

Every other game I try so hard in ranked and play as much as I can because I really wanna get to that next division and show people in game my progress as I go, it's motivational. With League i'm just like, "Eh, I still got a few months, eh I still got a few weeks....oh shit it's already Worlds"

100% support having your border change with your CURRENT RANK.

I have no idea why your border reflects how high your mmr got 1 year before .

It should reflect how good your are CURRENTLY. Massive support.

I really procrastinate because we have SOO much time to rank up each year. I always put it off and I thought about it today...just seems like a bad system to use if you want people to play more seriously or consistently. Halo, CoD, Hearthstone, all those games and others have a rank that changes each division, and I sweat my ass off every single game as much as I can play to get to that next rank lol. I want that out of LoL's ranked playlist.

Well first they should fix the ranked system they have and ensure it has 'comptetitive integrity' or wte the solo q players are complaining about.

After that, I agree with this change a lot. Can we tag a rioter so they can offer their 2 cents on having the ranked borders change with current rank instead of last year's rank? It would be a better indiciation of current skill

I agree it is a good idea, and would show how good your teammates are (kinda).

However, the border currently works as a reward for achieving a rank. If you lost divisions, you'll lose your border, which some players might not like as they previously earned that reward. At the end of season however, they don't complain they lost part of their reward, seeing as they didnt have it in the first place

Also, i don't think borders were implemented to show everyone how good you currently are.

Im not disagreeing with your idea however, its definitely a good one

Again this isn't for other players as much as it's for the individual playing. I wanna see MY rank go up because it's a visual representation of success over time and in every single loading screen. It's in every other game I can think of, and it feels good and drives me seeing the number go up, as well as motivating me more when it goes down.

I just noticed it today because I find I do put off ranking alot because we have so much time before the deadline is up. A constantly progressing system would be much better, dynamic or solo.

You see. The problem here is that when a bronze is in the same team with silver players you'll get : "GG, NO RANKED BORDER. WE HAVE A BRONZE NUB IN OUR TEAM"

Yeah, cuz that doesn't already happen in champ select when I pick something people disagree with, ban something they don't like, make a play they don't like or buy an item they don't like in game. People will bitch regardless, why take away from a better more motivational ranking system all other games seem to be able to handle just because you make get a salty guy every now and then who's gonna be complaining anyways? I've played many games where I get matched with WAY different ranks than mine. Sometimes the gap between ranks is laughably bad, but I never heard anyone complain about it in the other games. I think most would wait for the plays regardless to call bullshit on.

I think you'd get that defeatist attitude alot more if you showed the enemy teams ranks instead of your own...which Riot already has handled.

Ranked boarder is basically only used to identify boosted animals now a day, if you have a low elo boarder in a high elo game boom everyone thinks you are a boosted animal.

that happened in one of my previous games. It wasn't a ranked game, but they just fed the gnar (who was 26 and 9 by the end of the game, the only reason that he had that many deaths was that I was a really fed kat), and never really took too kindly to the idea of "if you die a couple times, just wait under tower for your jungler so you can 2 v 1. I literally don't even think that the gnar ever tower dove her. I think she just... I don't know.

even if they do it this way there will still be those matches with bronzers against golds (im silver) in promo to higher division.... i lost my motivation and i think will never be high enought for me to give a shit for it :D

I support this 100%. It gives you a little more incentive to do your best and it more accurately shows people which rank you're in. Almost every single game I play I see someone with a boarder (or even no boarder at all) when it doesn't accurately represent where they on the ranked ladder.

I think my buddy has Gold and he's been Bronze/Silver for a while lol. Definitely seems silly to not have a scaling border.
