[Seeking Advice] Former Support Player Transitioning To Mid

RIP Resonance··1 votes·1,668 views

I've been playing support for a really long time, and I've decided to transition to mid lane. I'm trying to play a role where I can have more impact on the game itself. While supports can impact the game very well, mid laners can do it with relative ease. I'm looking for help from a high elo player if possible.

Outside basics like farming and mana management, you need to be more aware of the map because of mid lane's ability to roam top or bottom. In lane try to ward the middle river bushes near Dragon/Herald, they give you the best vision and the most time to react to possibly being ganked. They also give you better vision control of those objectives.

Never pick a champion just because they are OP or meta, play what you like and hone it. Different types of mid laners have different impacts on team fights and the game. Utility mages can function like supports if behind until they catch up while assassins want to avoid falling behind because of their focus on single-target damage. Control mages, like what have been popular in the LCS, can control team fights or objectives with their kits.

Recognize when your champion has their power spikes and use them to your advantage in lane and during team fights. Never have a static build, outside of 1-2 core items your build should be adaptable based on the enemy team comp and your lane matchup.

Hope this helps.

You're going to need to get used to CSing.

during the first stages of transition id suggest safe champs like Karthus Malzahar Annie theyre really simple and have amazing aoe for when those teamfights go down. basically just identify the biggest threat on the enemy team and try to burst them down asap. all of these champs have really strong roaming potential which is what separates good mids from great mids, hell karthus just needs to keep an eye out for anyone whos low or the enemy jg tried to gank a lane. his ult gives him some of the best global presence in game

Not really high Elo, But I started with Support and mid.

The one thing I find Cool about Mid lane, Their is a lot of champions that can go mid, and a lot of different functions you can perform. I would recommend a little study into your favorite strategies, and figure out which champions work well with those strats.
