"Gragas Support? Okay, AP Draven Mid."

Personally, I really like Gragas support. He has a lot of CC and is useful in teamfights. I like it that he has an escape and a passive that gives him health.

I'm tired of every time I want to play something out of the meta, I'm flamed constantly and always the blame. Most of all, people think I'm trolling when I'm trying to see if something works. Gragas can support. Don't flame me or troll pick because you have a stick up your ass.

I'm not sure, but I think that people accept weird picks more in higher ranked games.

I remember when I finally settled on a main, Rammus Top to be precise, and set off into ranked, people kept thinking I was trolling. Then again, TP+Revive would look pretty troll when combined with a jungler for a top laner.

Made it into Plat, accusation rates started diminishing. Revive got removed, changed it up for Flash+Ignite, climbed up a little higher, I stopped getting accused of trolling AT ALL (though sometimes people put into chat "no tp?", but that's the most they'll say).

The reason? imo, I think people in lower ranks only have experience against meta picks, and don't know how to play with or against weird picks, which is what makes them work and... not work. It works because the people you're up against in lane have no idea how to deal with your champ, but your team might also struggle to keep up with you.

My advice for you? If you play a weird champ, make sure it can carry the team. Otherwise, play a champ that your team knows how to play with, because some people have really low tolerance for what they think will ruin the game for them.

Gragas support was run by Gambit Gaming last year (to decent success if I recall correctly). Maybe your response should be "the pros do it" and let their conflicted desire to follow the meta and be like the pros tear them apart.

What kind of an idiot doesn't want a gragas support? Wtf? Really?

Its like Support Annie, but better:

  • Another potential sleeper carry with good damage in late game
  • Has way more reliable CC than a support annie or brand, ESPECIALLY post 6. After level 6 positioning means nothing and a gragas support can put you anywhere he wants after you make a single mistake.

Don't forget the dirty masses played nautilus support for 2 years before the pros made it meta.

I personally don't like grag support but it isn't bad. its better to play offmeta champs that you enjoy and put your all into then fotm champs that you don't know or enjoy.

it "can" work, a lot of things "can" work but often times people want the best, what can gragas really offer that other supports can't do as well. as for ap draven, yeah hes a mad hypocrite

Fun fact: There was a time where Gragas was played as support for meta.

Anyone that tries to call Gragas support bad are the same type of people that will turn right around and try to defend it once a pro starts playing it.

Before Pro: "Omg, it's shit cuz X,Y,Z."

After Pro: "Omg, it's dank cuz X,Y,Z."

I'm happy to say that so far, I've been able to play AP Varus mid without getting flamed. :D

Maybe it's just because I'm in team builder and people accept whatever comes with starting a game with me.

I have played gragas support for quite a few games because my team allows it and he is a valid support. He has faster warding than most supports since his dash has low mana costs and can pass through walls. He is pretty tanky, around bard level only though, because of his w. Like people mention his cc is very good. His ult changes games, and can make plays. His e is a good knockup especially with flash. In its best use, it can knock up an entire team. It also actually has a very short cooldown. With the amount of cdr that support buys, you can peel very well with it. I have had the other team complain about how gragas kept knocking them up and couldnt kill the backline. Even his q is a very good slow. It has far ranged so its good for catching people out. People seems up underestimate slows, but one slow = death if conditions are right. He can be played as tanky or poke in lane and then transition to tank later on to be relevant. In lane he also has superb sustain compared to other poke supports. But he is a good support that can carry. He is also very fun.

The downside to support gragas is that his e range was nerfed making it difficult to hit especially with minions. His plays can mess people up and he has a high skillcap. He is also poked down in lane like a thresh but he doesnt have as high a death potential. So the best way to play is probably to poke them with his q and counter engage with e if they go in. The biggest problem is that people dont really know how to play with him or trust him, kinda like bard, so its best to play with people who knows how to play with gragas.

Other than that i find him to be a lot more fun to play than other supports. It was really annoying when people say that he doesnt work because he does.

grag support sounds like just a weak gimmick to be honest
