How to get S+?

Cerebral Absence··2 votes·1,416 views

Hey guys, my question is pretty simple: how to get S+ (especially on supports) Last game I went 3/3/24 as Blitz, pulled of some nice plays and got my team so fed that I build RoA because we were so far ahead. And then the whole game I was like yeah yeah yeah gonna get an S+, but.. Actually it was just an S. So what do I have to do better? More Kills (Does the system count kills better than assissts? Aren't deaths important? Or are even 3 deaths too much? :0

Could you provide the match history link?

Warding (placing and clearing), objectives, KDA, CS all are key to getting S+. You need to be in the top .5% to get an S+ from what I recall.

This means that you have to do better in ALL of these things than all but .5% of people who play that champ.

Top 2% for S+, but yes.

The relative weightings of all these things (and probably other factors as well) is a mystery, but riot does assure us that even if we knew the formula, it'd still basically boil down to playing to win (which makes me think for example they're taking into account ward positioning as well, so e.g. spamming wards at base wouldn't be useful to gaming the system).

edit: And whats more, it's top 2% of performances on that particular champion in that particular role, not top 2% across all performances period, which makes them somewhat more feasible for non-challenger level players. They're definitely hard to get, and are probably more common as you go up through the ranks, but even bronzies have been known to manage S+'s if they have a particularly good game on a champ they main for example.

It's very easy to get S on Leona for me because I play her so much, but getting an S+ on her is very very rare no matter how well I do with her and everything else that's related to it as far as I'm aware. I manage to even get S ranking on her when losing at times too.

It's just one of those things that has so many variables in it that even the variables have variables.

It is pretty easy, just play Soraka, build ardent, spirit visage, warmog, and maybe a GA. The goal is to get as many assists and as few deaths as possible. The game has a hard time calculating the usefulness of plays and ward placement so it generally just goes off of stats, mainly CS, kills, deaths, and assists. The rank doesn't have to reflect your skill as a player, but more how much of a gold advantage you got your team, which is one of the most important things in league of legends. Dying gives the enemy an advantage, assists give you gold advantage and I think they are like worth like 75% kills or something but they are much easier to get so that is why supports have an easier time than say top getting high ranks. If I win a game as a support, I generally get an S rank depending on the support like Leona goes into fights and starts them so she dies more.

I once got our Zed to an S+ rank, even though he fed VERY hard early on and had 11 deaths to his name.

Basically, some of your stats contribute to some invisible score, and that score is compared to others on a percentile-based chart. The higher your percentile (basically, you performed better than this percentage of people), the higher your grade. I don't know the stats nor the formula, but that's how it works. Basically, you need to play better than 90-95% of the community.
