Azir nerfs discussion

Hello,

I've just seen the Azir nerfs on the PBE and I wanted to ask if anyone knows why exactly Azir is getting nerfed. I thought of a possible slight nerf and by coincidence I saw Redmercy's (a Youtube guy, who makes Gameplay/educational LoL videos) video about the Azir nerf and his suggestion to just remove the ability to use W on turrets and also remove the ulti's movespeed for allies.

I mean, 3s from 5/6/7 seconds wall is pretty hard. Is the wall so op that it has to be nerfed? Imho Azir is perfectly fine and fair as how he is atm. A beginner Azir will never be able to play this champion so that you could call it op, and imo a player who spend times and times to learn all the tricks of shurima's sun birdy should be rewarded with a really good - maybe even above average - champion.

And isn't Azir like Vayne? Shut him down early, deny him farm, gank/all in him whenever his E is on cooldown and you will have a 4+a chicken vs 5 game. Does Vayne need nerfs? I don't think so (yeah, maybe the true %HP DMG is a thing but let's overlook this one ;)), because of the same reason Azir shouldn't get nerfed too hard. In the late, Azir has a much safer distance then Vayne and magic DMG which is (afaik) always better than AD.

TL;DR: I'm completely fine with taking away the W turret-mechanic and the Ulti's movespeed, even 1/2 seconds from the duration, but I think this nerf is way too hard. Suggestion: Ulti's duration: 3/4/5 or even (if you don't want it to scale) 4/4/4.

Thanks for reading.

PS: I'm just a silver player, but I "main" (smth around 25k points or so) him and I think I understand his a little bit indepth basics, if you know what I mean.

PPS: With the PBE changes I could even imagine Azir only putting a point in his R at level 6 and after that no more, because you need the wall for it's utility, not for it's damage. Although the damage is fine. It was just a random thought that came into my mind while writing this.

Ah, and because so many people say "Azir has become overbearing" - the Champ didn't get touched, why is he getting "OP" just because he's played at the MSI? If _____ (insert League's currently worst champ) was pick/ban at the MSI would Rito nerf it because he is "OP/too good" now, even though he has never ever been played and was always laughed at?

/Edit The Poll cut the rest of the answers away, It should be:

2.Keep the Ulti's duration. 3.Yes, but a bit too much, maybe give him some slight buffs to compensate the nerfs? 4.No, the nerfs are completely unnecessary.

The ult nerf was too far. If they're gonna do dumb shit like this then they should bring back his old passive or e stun.

Yes.I think in the same way.Ult duration must be 3/4/5.

I said. His ult must have growing values.

3/3/3 is absurd and isn't rewarding.

i think it is because his zoning is too good i dont think anyone realizes how impactful a 7 seconds lasting wall can be in a tf it protects the backline from the enemies frontline and lets them attack without much risk

He's getting nerfed because he's been pick/ban in the competitive scene for ages now. Azir suffers from the "best case scenario" condition. Pretty bad with average players, but extremely strong on experienced/pro players.

Honestly I was never around for the s5 days wen Azir was op but i main azir ( kinda still do but i've picked up a couple other mains.) and i think hes in such a bad place right now. I pkay him decently and tend to be passive with my ult and struggle late game but ive seen so many azirs just do so bad man its sad. i know its bronze but still he's ridiclulously hard to play and even harder to master

Azir needs serious nerfs to his zoning. Just touching the MS on ulti and tower passive would not be enough to put him in line.

Its either his range, or his wall duration. I'm sure you'd rather have the wall duration get gutted.

Azir is a problem in professional play, same reason yi was nerfed before because he was stomping in lower elo. The wall duration adds a lot of hidden power that experienced players know how to use where as less experienced players don't at all. I am assuming riot is taking these nerfs into consideration because that won't hurt his damage so it should generally balance out for both experienced and non experienced players, but it's too early right now to make any speculations til the changes are out or tested in pbe.
