Why Are Some Hitboxes So Fucked Up?

Morg Q, Thresh Q, etc. Wish we can have animations that accurately match the hitbox, so we don't have to main every single skillshot champ for a month to know how far we have to dodge. Dunno if that's too much to ask.

Amumu I didn't know Mumu's bandages had heat-sensing guidance mechanisms!

You see your champion stop, the bandages clinging onto a rock or something invisible, and then he dashes to you! Quite hilarious actually (I don't even mind this hitbox compared to Morg's), but man... how fat can those bandages be?

Then there are some hitboxes that are ridiculously smaller than what the animation shows.

Cho'gath Q is a great example.

I should point out that, though Riot denies that there are problems with hitboxes, they exist in two forms:

  • Incorrect hitboxes / ability ranges as compared to visual indicators
  • Unstable code that causes hitbox inconsistency, even in low-latency scenarios (in addition to problems caused by normal lag)

For most other game companies, your request is not too much to ask. For Riot... well...

Whenever you complain about Thresh or Morg Q hitboxes, take a moment to remember old Nidalee's spears...

(but seriously, riot really needs to tweak the hitboxes of either champs or the abilities, whichever is the issue)

I "sniped" a heimerdinger with a mantra q from karma. It missed him completely yet somehow still killed him.

Karma's q's are the most broken thing ive seen in a while. Thats why im spamming her mid and hell, ill probably spam her top to while im at it

Thresh's Q hit-box doubles when it reaches max range. This is working as intended. They did this to help him land max range hooks. Whether or not he needed this is debatable (I lean towards "no").

Also, never forget the previous Nidalee. Nuclear tipped spears. That could be made invisible. And had hit box that radiated roughly 2 Teemos out to each side.

The weirdest hitboxes in the game are Amumu Q. It can go right through someone and miss, or CLEARLY miss, and hit somehow.

Ezreal W, is so strange. Its animation isnt long enough? You can look completely out of its range and it still hit you.

Velkoz's actual body hitbox is so inaccurate too. Its like none of his tentacles actually count as his body, so you end up missing when you shoot him in the body.

I just noticed yesterday when playing against Ez how awful his W hitbox is. Like, it literally goes on for a centimeter more than it should. It's ridiculous. I'd be well out of his range and still take damage. Apparently Riot thinks making such a big part of the skillshot invisible counts as good counterplay, like the stupid Thresh Q hitbox.

I also remember after Sivir's rework her Q animation would go for a centimeter or so more than it shows in the range indicator, but without doing damage. Not sure if they changed that.

This has been an issue for so long that it's insane. It took them what, 5 years to fix Nid's? It's hilarious really. Especially with Amumu . I just play the shit out of champions like Morgana and laugh as I reap the free lp

Some of it is level changes. For some reason Riot decided that changing terrain height was a good idea (river-lane and base-jungle) are the best examples. This make some particularly bad cases like invisible ezreal ults and nid spears because the projectile is underground.

I want the animations to be fixed rather than the hitboxes, especially for Morganna. You might think she's OP support but her cooldowns are obscene. She needs a chance to do something other than being useless when separated from her target by enemy minions.

Fiddlesticks ult is bad for this, too. His R will damage you a full 100-125 units outside of his red ring.

I definitely have issues with Ezreal's W. Makes it hard to play against an AP Ezreal because you aren't used to that W range and AD Ezreal's W sucks so you ignore it...

Amumu's clearly grab when missing in some cases, similar to Morgana's Dark Binding. Some AoE ults definitely are larger then it shows but I can't recall any off the topc of my head.

Riot needs to fix Syndra's Q>E hitbox. It's not there anymore. The ball will pass straight through the enemy and not stun.

And then on the flip side you need to be able to see the future to land Elise's nerfed E, and good luck if there is any lag at all. I've seen the thing go literally straight through the middle of champions and not work.

There are only like 3-4 hitboxes in the whole game that are proper. Mundo cleaver. Shen taunt. Jarvan knock up. Nidalee spear post-rework before it was buffed again.

Every other hitbox in the game is fucked up.

I still never understood why Riot has a system in place to show you the range and width of a spell when 60% of the spells in the game don't even follow it.

with a side of the complexities of hit detection bounding box simplifications for sane performance in computation time terms, and centering of 3d animations to champion and sometimes even animation variate anchor points within such boxes(applies to projectiles too).

Shen's E is messed up man the end point radius is too small, and the dash width is too small. its a fricken taunt, not a nuke, so it's hitbox should be bigger. Naut and Braum can CC champs for days and even if they were to miss their fat skill shots, they can still rely on thier passive for guranteed CC. Shen has 1 form of CC and he cant CC someone as long as Naut and Braum or even Cho so his dash should be a bit longer.

Lux idk if it's just me, but everytime I dodge her ult I just walk upward and it just miss. Might be some sort of camera angle issue, but the actual animation doesn't seems to match the hitbox.

I just love how they nerf Nida's and Mundo's Q's width but some shit like Nautilus, Morgana, Amumu, Lux, etc. are still untouched. Cmon pls, Nautilus's Q is waaaay to thick to be an instand casted ability with that travel speed. If you play a champ without a dash you will surely get hit by that hook even if the Naut player is on 500 ping.

The Biggest abusers are definitely these two Blitzcrank Thresh .

Apparently, Blitzcrank's q range is 100 units less than Thresh's

But the other day, me ( as blitz) did a standoff vs a thresh and my q managed to grab him while his didn't have enough range.

It's about time riot looks into this.
