Threshold for S scores...

I've tried researching, but it just seems a mystery to me. I've had some ridiculous matches in the past couple days and only see A scores.

Not the end of the world, just grinding out some games with a friend to try and get chests. But like this match- I had pretty much same score as another support type champ, and a much better score than another one who got S, but I still only got A.

Karma basically had the same score, but half the assists and got S. Camille had a very average score but got an S.

Camille is probably weighted differently, but Karma is both in the same tier and class as Sona. So any ideas? Just curious...

Grading is based on percentile performance compared to all other players on the same champion in the same role, so requirements are prone to change over time as more performances come in for a given role/champ combination. Being the same 'type' of champion or even the same champion in a different role has no baring on the relative requirements for the grade, it's only how you do compared to others on the same role and same champ.

Remember theres a lot more to grades than cs and KDA though, so warding (both clearing and placing) and objectives and KP% and so on are all other important factors that may not be immediately obvious at a glance.

Game modes other than SR are pretty weird for grading due to less well defined roles (note that the game figures out your role and it doesn't matter what role selection said you were, so if you're assigned support but end up playing a different role, you'll be graded as that different role rather than as a support).

It's calculated differently for every champion in every role. If you play Xin Zhao support and do well, you are far more likely to get an S+ than a Xin Zhao jungle with exactly the same KDA, CS and other stats.

To be honest if you die more then twice its damn near impossible to get an S on support, if its more the three times be happy to get an S-. This is the sad hardship I have learned while playing support. I think their should be a clarity though on what the required goal KDA is for S rating etc. Like average S rating KDA for Sona is 12/2/28 or something stupid. Instead of people trying to figure out how Riot randomly rates us.
