Ranked is a lost cause

Every game of ranked I get into my team doesn't know what they are doing. Ranked is supposed to place you where you belong, yet no matter how many times I win lane no matter how positive I go, my team does nothing but feed. I cant stand having a combines 2 and 12 botlane by 10 mins its absurd. All I want is a team that can either win or at least go even in lane. Every game I'm the lucky one that gets stuck with people who don't know what they are doing in the slightest. Im dropping lower and lower down the ladder simply because I know how to play league but riot cant put competent players on my team that are at least on my level of play. Yet the other team is always winning with no problem at all. So much for being placed where you deserve.

This is just me ranting. I know this happens to a lot of people and everyone who actually gets good teams will say I'm bad and I need to learn how to carry, but simply that is impossible in the scenarios I get put in. Its one thing to carry when your team doesn't feed but when they do forget about it.

My teams are always trash, you need to learn how to carry. My smurf moooose2 went from silver 5 to almost d2 this season so far. Trust me climbing is easy if you know how.

The key is Duo Q.

Find someone with a high mechanical KDA and with decent game sense but who is in your MMR, team up with them, and then climb (this way, you'll be playing at the same difficulty and it won't skyrocket because you team with someone too high up).

You'll have a substantially lower probability of getting as bad of a team as a whole since you can control 2/5 of the team.

Once you climb to a more "reasonable" MMR, you can go solo again if you want.

Also, pick Generalist champs (champs that can plausibly and easily go 1 vs 2, 1 vs 3 later) like AOE mages, CC initiation tanks etc... I would stay away from assassins. Play champions that can easily cover up for the team in turning team fights when the inevitable Picks and bad engages happen.

No offence, but this is a horrid idea. Duoing with someone to rank up just means that you are refusing to improve. Having a 50% win rate in your current elo means that once you rank up with your duo you will end up having a <50% win rate in that higher elo. There are enough videos online to help players improve, watch them and you can climb.

Do you not improve as part of a duo though?

You wouldn't improve any quicker than you would than soloing. All duoing does is potentially give you a small elo increase. In reality though, the flaws that kept you in the elo you were in before just become more exploited after you rank to a higher elo. Once you stop duoing, you will just drop back to where you were before since there is no actual improvement.

What if I'm good at keeping elo but bad at gaining it Solo?

You either have a >50% win rate and rank up. have a less than <50% win rate and rank down or have a 50% winrate and rank no where. If, for example, you have a 50% win rate in gold 4 and then duo with something to gold 2, what happens after that? Once in gold 2, you might peak at this elo with your duo, and stop playing with him. At that point, you will have a <50% win rate in gold 2. If you were to have a 50% win rate in gold 2, you would have had a higher win rate in gold 4 and been able to rank here yourself. Basically how the system works is any person's skill level will be 50% at a specific elo (the elo where they are equal to everyone else in skill). If a person has a higher skill level than his teammates, he will have a >50% winrate and rank up toward the elo where he has 50% win rate. If a person has a lower skill level than his teammates, he will have a <50% winrate and rank downward toward the elo where he has a 50% win rate. All duoing does is distort your win rate to be higher than it should be. However, that will peak at a point as well, and if you ever stop duoing, the fact that your skill level is worse than others will pull you back down to where you started (assuming you didn't learn anything).

I understand what you're saying.

However, I think its possible for someone to have a less than 50% win rate solo in Gold 4... but to have a close enough to 50% win rate at Gold 2.

How's that possible?

Well some people are good at KEEPING elo (they can keep up if thrown into a higher elo game and pull their weight very very well) but SUCK at climbing elo by themselves.

For example, when I play with higher ranked Silver friends I am rarely ever the reason we lose. If anything I generally do very well.

Yet ask me to climb there solo? Not happening in a reasonable time or at all. But if you throw me in there, I can swim.

If that makes sense?

The other thing to say is that if your Duo partner's MMR is around the same as you (S2 working with S3 or both S2 for example)... then you're ensuring the MMR across your team is more even, not necessarily giving your team much of an unfair advantage.

The other thing to consider is... I find that there's a Duo in nearly every other game (if not every game). If I don't Duo, someone else will (on my team and on the enemy team). And I don't want them dictating how the game will be played... I want my duo to control how my game is played. See what I mean? I can't tell you how many HORRIBLE duo bot lanes we get if I don't do it...

I disagree. If you and the person you duo with are at the same skill level there is arguably no difference between that and queuing solo. The only thing you are doing is diminishing the odds of having another losing lane. If you suck, your duo will abandon you. You have to carry your weight too. This is especially true regarding people who play tanks and supports. You can play extremely well as a tank but have 4 people that are too dumb to give you the dps you need to win a fight or take an o jective.

There is zero sense in dealing with the ridiculous feeding and idiotic plays of 4 people when you can just as easily make it 3.
