Arurf is bad, and here is a non-emotional and logical reason as to why.

First off, with no bans, the entire roster is allowed. Which means that every single one of those champions that made the original urf unfair and caused riot to change it out for this is the first place, actually has a better chance of being in your game. Second, without the ability to pick your favorite champion, the ability to experiment and find fun builds with friends is now improbable. Third, with it being blind, if someone does in fact pick an overpowered champ in the gamemode, you no longer have the ability to counterpick it in order to make it less overbearing. with 10 bans as a system that works now, why not apply it to Urf? Or, and here is a thought. Why not have both modes going at the same time? there is surely enough players with 10 second que times that two gamemodes can be going at the same time. Arurf is literally the most frustrating gamemode that exists. And this is objectively speaking too. Think about it. The enemy team gets a teemo, oriana, sona, maokai, and yi. Your team is reksai, ivern, bard, tristana, and jhin. Explain to me how this matchup is going to be enjoyable for anyone? The Op team, (figure out which one is op on your own ;P) is gonna stomp and grow bored as there is no stress or tension, just pressing buttons and winning. And the underpowered team is going to be completely unable to influence the outcome of the game... In truth, Arurf is not even a close second to Urf in terms of a well-made gamemode. It is in fact one of the worst. (I would even rate it with the likes of nexus siege)

No bans, completely random and unbalanced team compositions, blind pick, and overall a sense of frustration in almost every game. I'm sorry, but for those of you that like the gamemode, you have to understand that for it to REPLACE the other Urf is actually upsetting to those of us who like the regular mode better. If Riot truly does want to make the game fun for the PLAYERS, then they need to listen to the other half of the player base who dislike arurf, and have been clamoring for the main game mode all this time. No matter what they think of balance or enjoyment of the game themselves, its not up to them what we find fun or not. It is up to them however how they run themselves as a company. to outright decline to even think about bring regular urf back, they are showing the community that they don't care. At least, they don't care about half of us anyway.

For those who support it, what exactly is your reasoning? I have read the majority of the board posts each time Arurf comes around, and each time a post like this is made dozens of responses saying arurf is good start surfacing. I don't know where you guys are coming from, but I would like to know your thoughts. And please, leaving a downvote is fine, but if you disagree, please try to keep your insults and illogical statements in your head (use a notepad document if you must type it out...) I'll be waiting, not playing arurf, and hoping that Riot one day caters to their ENTIRE audience.

the entire point of ARURF is that it's random. Unbalanced teamcomps? the entire mode is about making everything as broken as possible! unbalanced teamcomps are literally what you will always get every single game no matter if you play the normal URF or ARURF!

in fact Riot created ARURF because everyone complained about how dumb, boring and repetitive URF was and their data actually showed that people didn't bother playing the mode for long either. All i see from people who like the original URF is the same i see when all of a sudden when Dominion was going to be removed, everyone was a Dominion player even though they hadn't played a single game of it in months... or just started playing it because it was announced to be removed... that is literally what i see every single time i see people wanting URF back.

ARURF is not a well made mode because URF itself is not a well made mode, it's literally a mode that was made as an April fool's joke of having everyone be broken as fuck by getting rid of every single limitator in the game. Obviously some champions benefit more than others from this.

I would like to see what data they found. where is this data? Riot claimed to find that. but the que time for that was just as short as it is for Arurf. In truth, Urf worked because it had bans...... bans....

they literally own the servers of the game. They can look at data fro said servers, they know how often a gamemode is being played. You can like URF all you want, doesn't change the fact that it's just a terrible mode. ARURF was their attempt to fix the terrible mode but since the core aspect of the mode is horrible, there wasn't much of a change to begin with.

And you can hate Urf all you want. Doesn't give you the right to claim it is a bad gamemode with no evidence to back it up...

Still not a single good argument against my points yet. Still waiting.

ARURF is bad because URF in general is poorly designed. Riot could easily just disable the major problem champions to limit the roster to ones that might actually be fun (like how they shortened the roster for Blood Moon by disabling all of the other champions). But no, Riot is too lazy to actually do that.

Urf wasn't poorly designed if millions loved it. crazy hectic fun. the ability to take your main or favorite champ into a match and test out builds in low cooldowns. Arurf takes that fun away. and gives you a champ you may or may not like, and place you against people who also may get their main. Arurf is WAY more onesided then Urf. shorter game times on average, and less players concurrently. It's obvious im not just making this stuff up. Urf was more popular, and was really fun.

Original URF was "Use the meta or never win" ARURF is "Good luck with whatever we give you fucker"

Both are bad, URF was more fun the 1st full weekend it was played since entering the RGM rotation, but kids quickly figured out what was the most broken which is why Riot changed it to ARURF to prevent abuse cases.

If Riot would just disable the abused champions then it could go back to being URF, but they won't.

The second team you mention actually isn't that bad, all things considered.

My support (sorta) for ARURF is that, unlike apparently a lot of people complaining, I actually remember the original URF. It was fun for the first day. Perfect URF experience. By halfway through Day 2, the matches would be flooded with people spamming the same 6 or so OP champions, and God help you if you picked someone non-OP for fun, cause you were going to have a miserable time. So it ended up being really. Fucking. BORING. ARURF was intended to force players to play different choices, which it did. ARURF's downside is the same as ARAM; the game is often decided in the lobby when the random champions are handed out, and only occasionally are the teams evenly matched. Does that suck? hell yeah. At the same time, if it means I don't face the same tiny pool of champions over and over, consistently punished for wanting to play, say, Leona, is it worth it? IMO yes.

10 bans would fix the "6 op champs every game" thing. in fact, you claim it was boring, but when que times are 9-10 seconds for the entire duration of its run..... It is pretty obvious that you are a part of the other half of the community that didn't like urf. but don't discredit the other half of us who do.

I'm referring to the starry-eyed fans with their nostalgia goggles on (really easy to have when the game mode in question only appears briefly about once a year) who insist old URF was "so much better than ARURF" and refuse to acknowledge the fundamental issues with it. I'm also not saying it wasn't fun; you reference the queue timers like they're supposed to mean something, but given that URF and ARURF have never been available simultaneously, and neither has run at the same time as any other RGM, queue times don't mean much. If URF and ARURF run at the same time and old URF after a day or so STILL pulls more people in, then I'll stand corrected.

ThèRedBaron2 votes

The que times do mean something. they are a direct reference to how many players are playing that gamemode currently. So of course it matters. And no, I don't have goggles on. I know how Urf was fun. Sure there was op champs. But you could play op as well. Was still more balanced than the horrible mess that random is. I'm sorry. But none of you have given good claims as to why Arurf is better yet. All you guys keep saying is that its bad too. That's not what Im asking here.
