purchasing pink wards and placing/clearing wards is a huge factor

It's a comparison per champion, per role. It compares Veigar to other Veigar players, and you to whatever you were playing. Doesn't matter what score he got, it matters what score he got in comparison to other Veigar players. Similarly, it doesn't matter if your score is the same as Veigars. You are not being compared to him, you're being compared to others of what ever champ you played.

Also to note, it compares players to other players on that champ IN THAT ROLE. So Shen top gets graded independantly from Shen support, for example.
