Viegar needs a nerf extremely badly

His trap needs silence removed then he'll be even remotely balanced but as it stands his trap is tremendously overpowered because it silences+stuns and since riot insists on having him be able to 1 shot people he drops insane damage that you can't do anything about. It's bad enough that it zones off in itself so you can't catch him as melee, Even when you dodge his trap if you're inside it you mostly screwed, because he can just combo you into the ground. I had a ton of MR last game and he still few hit me no problem. And having "your team focus him" is not a solution, no single champion should be that powerful. His CDR on his trap is very low mid/late game too with common items.

First off, his "trap" (Event Horizon) only stuns and does not silence. Secondly even with full CDR at 45% you're still looking at a nearly 8 second cooldown which is actually quite long.

100% it silences, I couldn't cast anything all last game everytime I ran into it. Go test it right now, guarantee you can't cast while stunned.

No it doesnt.

Veigar forms a cage around the target area which materializes after a 0.5 second delay and lasts for 3 seconds, knocking down and stunning all enemies who pass through its edges for the first time.

A stun can arguably be called a silence, I guess?

Are you trolling?

Then by your own account, he's "remotely balanced". No silence on it, and there never has been to my knowledge.

Why couldn't I cast then all last game? I'm getting to the bottom of this, there's no way that doesn't silence,

I can fire up a custom game and show you it doesn't silence. If you couldn't cast then you were either CCed by someone else, everything was on Cooldown, or you had a lag spike.

Because you're... stunned?

Agreed, nerf Vinegar. Vinegar needs a nerf really bad. Vinegar is just way too stronk.

I feel Veigar needs changes for sure, but not this.

Due to LoL's current gameplay, I feel 3 seconds of zone control with Event Horizon is way too much when it includes a stun. I suggest one of two changes to Event Horizon.

  1. The duration of the walls scale with rank. So it would look like this: Rank 1/2/3/4/5. Stun Duration: 1.5/1.75/2/2.25/2.5 seconds. Wall Duration: 1.75/2/2.25/2.50/2.75 seconds. Cool down: 14 seconds at all ranks -- down from 18/17/16/15/14.

  2. Event Horizon no longer stuns a target, but instead, silences them whenever they pass through the walls. Passing through a wall more than once will result in the target being slowed by 20/25/30/35/40% for 1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2 seconds.

Rank 1/2/3/4/5 Silence Duration: 1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2 seconds. Wall duration: 3 seconds at all ranks. Cool down: 18 at all ranks -- up from 18/17/16/15/14.

Targets cannot be slowed or silenced more than once.***

Either way, this would improve interaction between Veigar and other champs, allowing them to be mobile and have a little more counterplay than a 3 second zone where you have to burn flash a majority of the time.

Sigh.

I agree that Veigar needs some changes, specifically to his essential Garen Ult which makes his ultimate from a threat to Squishies and AP users to a threat to everyone. On top of that, giving his AP on every spell he hits is a bit of overkill which I would rather see reverted. But look at your post, OP.

"Tremendously over-powered stun" How do you figure? It's not like people don't have a WARNING that a stun's coming. And how exactly are you screwed inside of the trap? The only real threat to you is if you managed to be stunned right off the bat. I say this because most Veigars count on you ignoring the warning and immediately throw down their W the moment they cast E, predicting where you're going to be stunned in the split second before the stun actually goes up. This is a dodge-able and unreliable stun which depends more on the lack of response from the opponent than anything else. If you're inside the trap, you can dodge skillshots and wait out the wall. You're not screwed. Meanwhile, you want to NERF a squishy low mobility AP Mage's ONLY defense? Blinks and Flash already bite Veigar in the rear, so how much support do you really think you're going to get for it?

In short, I agree. He needs re-balancing. But you're focusing on the wrong mechanics for this.
