Dear Riot, Please take these thoughts into consideration on the State of Bot Lane
Quick Disclaimers: I do not hate ADC's & Supports. This is not a hate post, please don't turn it into one in the comments below. I do not claim any knowledge on how to balance the game anywhere in this post. This is very much just me voicing how I feel about the current Bot Lane Meta/Status. Yes, this is mostly opinionated, so you may not agree with the things that I say but that's okay.
This new Bot Lane Meta is the most fun I've had in months playing League. Yesterday I played Kha'Zix + Rengar bot vs Annie + Heimerdinger. As well as Talon + Kayne vs Heimerdinger + Lux And Yasuo + Sona vs Nasus + Leona.
My friend and I both prefer the champions in the solo roles, so naturally we don't have a lot of interaction with each other pre-20. So being able to que up together and play whatever we want in the bot lane and make it work is incredibly fun. And it's clearly fun for others too based off how much I'm seeing it happen not only in my low-elo games but also high Elo ranging from Diamond - Challenger.
Seeing Imaqtpie play Irelia ADC bot and Sneaky play Volibear ADC bot and many other high-elo streamers looks like they're also having a blast being able to play new things in these new ways.
For years now every role but Bot Lane has gone through dramatic changes in their lane Champion Picks Variety. Top is played by Tanks, Bruisers, Fighters, Mages, Marksmen. Jungle is played by Tanks, Bruisers, Fighters, Mages, Assassins, Marksmen. Mid is played by Bruisers, Fighters, Mages, Assassins, Marksmen.
But aside from Cheese picks like kill lanes or Ziggs around the beginning of Season 7, Bot Lane has remained the Marksmen + Support combo. Sure the different types of Marksmen + Support changes regularly but it's still the same consistent idea.
Why does Bot Lane deserve to take priority in this over every other role? Big changes like this have happened in every other role and it's time for it to happen Bot Lane as well. Riot has stated multiple times they want to diversify the champion pool in Bot Lane and they've finally done it! By accident let's be honest, but still!
Even high-elo streamers and current + past professional players such as Froggen & Imaqtpie are openly stating on their streams essentially everything that I've summed up here.
Now the obvious issue stands that this is because ADC's are pretty weak early compared to the Bruisers, Fighters, and whatever else being picked down there.
And I won't lie, I do not know the solution. I don't have the slightest clue. I don't envy the position Riot is in. All I know is that this is the most fun I've had in League in months and I can see others also having a great time just experimenting with this new fun shift in the bot lane.
Riot I'm begging you to please make this work somehow! I wish I could tell you how, but I can't.
