Pyke can pull off the "Reverse Tank" playstyle that made Kha'Zix a menace so long ago.

InSec and the New Kha'Zix's Role * r/leagueoflegends

Just like Kha'zix, Pyke can pick up Tenacity to become insanely slippery. It might even be important enough that Steraks becomes a decent pickup despite how you can't get a shield.

Instead of stacking HP to take advantage of Kha's old damage reduction, you stack resists to take advantage of Pyke's massive healing whenever you slip out of sight.

Just like Kha'Zix, Pyke can take pressure off his back line by terrorizing that of the enemy and wasting their damage. Hell, you can even do damage while stacking resists because you can get a good chunk of AD from tank items.

I'm not sure whether I should fear this or be excited. Both?

Pyke's "massive healing" is dependent on his gray health. So if he's taking damage, no matter how resistant he is to it, he's going to have an extremely hard time healing it back up, as he can only heal up to a portion of the damage he takes.

Additionally, with his lack of capability to have bonus HP, all the resistances in the world won't do him much good. You have to have BOTH HP and armor/MR to effectively shrug off damage, because even resisting 50% of the damage you take will still take off significant chunks of your low HP.

Pyke at level 18 has 2470 health. Deriving the formula for resistances and health efficiency, any character at 2470 health is better building resistances than health up to 230 resistance. Only after that does health become an efficient purchase. Seems pretty tanky to me, and even at 150 resistances, the health value should be 1875, which Pyke overtakes at level 12.

Is this the part where we make his passive convert bonus resists into AD too? Sure it gives him EVEN MORE ad to work with, but it ensures he can literally never become even remotely tanky, which was one of their stated design goals with Pyke.

You don't get the HP, but you still get the resists.

So long as you get out alive, you'll be able to dip into your W and (with the help of a Spirit visage) heal for all of the damage they dealt you.

That's why Tenacity is so important.

with visage and level 18 he should be able to heal most of the damage he takes if he manage to survive it at all is a matter of adding tenacity and resistances plus movement speed so he is actually able to escape from any situation

because you can get a good chunk of AD from tank items.

Eh, at 7.1%ish it's not much AD, but at least it's something. Better undertuned on release I say.

1 AD per 14 HP. It's enough to turn Mallet into an 80 AD item.

It's strong enough that you can justify buying Spirit Visage for its utility without losing out on much damage.

The conversion ratio is actually the exact gold efficiency ratio between health and AD, so the gold is exactly as though you spent it on AD

Spirit visage also increases his grey health regenation to 104% of the damage taken, combine that with the fact that % hp increases can give him more health because the amp'd base health is still considered base health and you may have a build on your hands

cant get a sheild?????? you mean that At some point Pyke doesnt have 400 hp at level 1- 1800 hp at level 18????

Steraks shield is 75% your bonus HP.

Pyke can't get bonus HP.

No shield.

Also, his HP is 600-2470.

my bad i have no idea when they changed it to that. No lie if they did that adcs can have sterak's back. they just have to then make it so that building defense (with no damage stats) actually nets more hp than building metagolem on adcs. aka letting defensive items item 3194 item 3001 item 3742 item 3143 (Let me slip this in here item 3083 ) have significantly more hp than damage ones without killing their resistance stats item 3053 item 3071 item 3748 (let me slip this in here item 3027 ) and maybe these items can get more raw ad. while this buffs tanks it also buffs bruisers because bruisers have also dip in raw defesive items while adcs and mages too good for that
