Does Akali need all that spellvamp?

If I look at the list of extreme mobility/burst assassins, I see a lot of things in common. They all have abilities that allow them to engage hard on a single target, and abilities that allow them a chance to get out afterward. What I dont see on most of them is the ability to regain a quarter of their HP instantly by spellvamping from 2 abilities... Once she gets some damage, Akali vamps better than freaking

What is it about Akali in particular that justifies not only massive burst, but vamping back huge chunks of HP at the same time? Isnt Akali's defensive tool supposed to be the shroud? Just imagine if got backa quarter of his HP when he hits you for 2/3 of yours.. Fizz is just as vulnerable to being blown up if his E is on cooldown as Akali is when she cant use her shroud, why does Akali get another layer of defense in her kit?

Vlad actually has better vamp then akali and Vlad counters akali in lane.

Because pink wards completly destroy the first layer of her defence.

She has to get SOMETHING. Even tho I agree her spellvamp should get reduced a little, not removed but reduced.

It's just so she gets 1-2 more seconds to kill something before she blows up after someone uses a pink ward lol,

Yes, she does.

Most of her damage is front loaded, hitting before she even takes damage.

And she only restores that much health because she's got so low health to work with in the first place.

Akali's balance points are not her sustain.

(IMO it's her energy costs/economy, in particular the lack of a cost on her R)

I'm not going to comment on wether or not Akali needs so much SV. But your Akali vs. Fizz comparison is rather flawed. Akali cannot max her shroud first, her shroud is countered by true vision or AoE, and Fizz actually has flat damage reduction vs. AAs as a second form of defense after his E.
