Katarina who? If she jumps in me as Swain she gets punished hard, I can sustain through her ult, and she's dead.

Katarina isn't a hyper carry, she just snowballs like a badass. Master Yi and Vayne are far more powerful late game.
I sympathize with your position. I only really ban Katarina if I'm not laning mid, because I can't trust our mid laner to not feed her. It's sad, but even then she's no insurmountable. CC hurts her badly, and if you're playing a champ top who can snowball well and survive/interrupt her ult (like Darius), you can counter a fed Kat.
