Following a roam can wind up really bad for the person following if you don't have good vision down. There's no answer that's 100% right 100% of the time but usually I don't expect my allies to follow a roam. What I do expect them to do is ping MIA, push the wave hard and get the tower. If their lane opponent is routinely roaming to a particular lane (i.e. mid roaming bot) then I also expect my ally to concentrate his vision towards that side of river. For example, I'd expect the mid laner to pick up a pink and ward the river brush that's between mid lane and baron/dragon.

If a laner roams and doesn't get a kill its a huge gold/exp advantage for your ally. You can literally deny 3 waves if you hard push. So if the enemy mid laner is roaming just tell yourself "all I have to do is not die and my team is going to come out way ahead."

We need scuttle control in the river and river wards in order to feel safe enough to roam easily. But yeah mid laners should follow their adversary mids and try to stop outmanned situations.

I'd say it really depends. Lux typically has stronger pushing power, but Brand should be decently able to hold his own.

Brand is not as good at roaming either. He is certainly able to do it, but his "gank" ability (his stun) requires more set up.

Lux can stun, deal an AOE of burst damage, assist the laners by shielding them, or just pop off an ult without even entering the lane and assist other lanes.

As far as what brand WAS doing, .. there isn't any way for me to really know that. (at least not until we finally get the replay system). One thing he should have been doing is pinging MIA, pushing the lane, or at least taking chickens. (that may sound like a joke, but getting himself fed during the laning phase will make him much more valuable when team fighting starts)

Now, I'm assuming that you lost, or you probably wouldn't be complaining, so I'm assuming that he didn't do these things, or there was some other failures on your team and/or good plays on the enemy team that ultimately led to a loss.

I think he should've used his abilities on the minions to push faster instead of merely last hitting. As well as ward so you know when Lux is trying to roam.

I think you should've had wards up, played less aggressively, and be ready to dissengage.

For me, it all depends on both lane priority and what you can trade off for the enemy's "roam". If the enemy mid-laner is dominating yours and decides to roam bot, then if your mid-laner roams they could potentially die on the way there (as plenty of teams "set up" bush parties to fake roams nowadays). If your mid-laner is an adc and can potentially nab a tower off the one roam (which while playing ezreal/urgot mid, has happened for me quite a bit), then it usually benefits your team more to just take the tower and have bot-lane push back. I'll check the game after this post, but realistically it all depends on the exact scenario.

Lux can push harder than he can. Best thing he can do is ping MIA (and maybe ping danger bot lane or top lane, whichever is pushed harder). It's the other laner's job to stay warded and avoid getting ganked.

With that said, if he can't push hard enough to follow his laner, then pushing as hard as he can and getting some tower hits is the next best thing.

Remember, your team mates can't always do what you want them to do. It's better that YOU have an idea of the match-ups so you know what to expect.

I had a midlaner tell me he wasnt going to gank bot because "but, Im getting kills in mid... soo..."

Yeah, don't try to use your lead to help other lanes win. We lost that game. Because enemy mid, jungle AND top lived in my lane. I don't even think we got first tower :P

I wouldn't follow a Lux as Brand unless there was vision all over the place.

Probably depends a lot on vision control

I wouldn't set foot in river as an immobile mage unless I had vision on where their team is, otherwise you're just begging to get ganked and die.

Deep ward jungle and put down pinks

I guess in cases with Brand vs Lux it wouldn't be to bad for the Brand to follow their laner but personally, I wouldn't follow unless it's warded enough for me to know that it's safe enough for me to attempt to reach there.

I've had games where I was playing Anivia or Velkoz and I was up against Fizz which went bot lane and my bot lane got mad that I didn't follow him through the dark and un-warded river...In cases like that...I either attempt to go bot lane the very long way (almost walking into the lane though the lane's tower) or I just ping ? and Danger and just push as hard as I can OR if I know the mid laner went bot lane, then I might just head top and see if I can swing that lane if possible.

Fun fact, around 14 cs is the same as a kill.

I mean in the mid lane you can let the enemy mid laner roam and as a result you can hard push mid lane and get a cs lead as well as turret damage to work towards that first blood turret for 400g. But if you do want to do this make sure you ping and say that the enemy mid laner is coming to save them from a gank. But i believe that if the lane being ganked is at a disadvantage and your teammates are low then i would take the initiative to follow the enemy mid laner. It can also depend on wards, the enemy jungler, and it may also depend on the enemy mid laner's champ as well as your champ. In order to make the decision to stay or go.

Mid champs typically have high burst, low health and low mobility... trying to leave your lane can easily get your killed by high damage high health high mobility type champs typical of junglers.
