Malphite Damage problems

Bloodhawk95··4 votes·552 views

Just had a game where a FULL TANK 0 AP ITEMS malphite did 12k more damage than i did (i was adc), and 4k more damage than his own ADC. Somebody want to explain to me how a 100% tank 0 damage item malphite can do 12k more damage than a Kog'maw? Really getting tired of RIOT and their BS

Can you post the match history please? Also, a lot of his damage scales off of his armor and his ult damage would make sense considering Kogmaw is on the "squishier than pudding" side of things.

Armor scaling on low cooldown abilities. He probably bought offensive tank items

Well he was also 9/4/16 versus your 8/7/2 with about 20 more cs. So it really isn't surprising that someone who has armor scaling and several AoE abilities and participated in over double the number of enemy kills had more champion damage.

He had 2 damage items, actually:

item 3025 item 3068

Oh and btw, his ult took half my HP. Yeah cause that isnt broken

you were an adc. chances are you built little to no resists. we can't see because we need the game link, but yeah. also, put this into perspective. an adc will auto attack for half your health, at least his is an ult

Oh, and btw, you were Kog'Maw. AKA one of the squishiest adcs out there.

Thornmail tends to rip through Kog'maw due to how quickly he attacks and how he prioritizes on-hit effects (so he doesn't heal much unless you get Hextech Gunblade).

Malphite tends to E right after he lands his ultimate, so it was two abilities taking out a good chunk of your health.

Malphite gets damage from his armor on W and E. That, combined with Thornmail's return damage and Sunfire Capes burn, would give him a lot of sustained damage in fights.

ADCs typically focus tanks while tanks typically focus squishy champions. The damage you dealt to him was mitigated heavily while you didn't really have any resistances to mitigate his damage.

Malphite deals AoE damage while ADCs deal primarily single-target damage.

Looking at your KDA, Malphite seems to have had far higher teamfight participation than you did. If you were being focused down immediately in fights, then you weren't surviving to deal damage either while Malphite was.

If Malphite was the main threat to you, you should have probably purchased a Banshee's Veil to negate his ultimate and heavily mitigate his damage.

Honestly, your team needed MR badly. The enemy team had Malphite, Phoenix Stance Udyr, Lux, and Blitzcrank dealing large amounts of magic damage. Their only AD champion was Caitlyn and your team stacked MR (which is why Caitlyn's damage was low).

he's 4 levels above you and you have no defensive items

He was killing me almost instantly at all stages of the game.

You are Kog'maw. You are suppose to be fragile, he needs to be protected. Malphite is good against him because he can ult straight to you.

You were also behind that game. You didn't even finish your first complete item until 20 minutes in.

Alright. I've edited my previous response with the new information.

Well, In all honesty, I can see. Why. ADCS do not have much AOE damage, while malph does. In TOTAL Cat did much more damage as she killed lane minions. Malphite's only job was to initiate and be jerk.

The malphite on your team, despite having pretty much the same build as the enemy, did 10k less damage than him as well.

Since champions are not stronger depending on the team's color, we can assume that the enemy one was consistently landing his skills on a squishy, who not having resistances would get a lot of damage from them.

Since the only other squishy in your team was mr. You-Cannot-Catch-Me Kassadin, we can safely assume that he was consistently landing everything on you, thus we can assume that he managed to do that much damage mostly either because of your bad positioning or because he could consistenly just walk through your team and get to you, since you were the only damage source that would have had any chance of harming him.

And since you didn't bother building a Last Whisper we can also safely assume that he could afk while sitting on top of you after ulting without you even being able to scratch him nor sustain back.

I wouldn't say that the only squishy on the OPs team was Kassadin. Considering they stacked primarily armor and 4 champions on the enemy team dealt primarily magic damage, they were all pretty squishy.

Oh, you're right.

Is this Season 2?

Moral of the story? Stop building an infinity edge on kog.
