Unpopular Opinion: Jungle Is just another Lane

And farming jungle without ganking or keeping the enemy jungler busy by fighting is afking.

I think I normally just write this stuff because I'm going to get downvotes, but we've been seeing alot of jungle diff memes.

One jungler ganks, the other is down 10 cs somehow. Then we get into objectives with taking dragon and baron and hearld and oh wow the jungler that ganked is also somehow securing them.

Honestly jungle is no different than a lane that doesn't get punished for ganking. When can we make some actual jungle changes that make it a trade off between ganking and farming? Right now you failed a gank thats ok, go take raptors even though you only have 100 hp. You will be full hp by time you get done with them.

I miss when junglers had to actually decide do I take that camp, or do I risk ganking. Now it isn't even risky to gank. So here is my proposal.

Increase jungle exp back up, reduce the amount of sustain junglers have. Junglers now have to decide if they want to gank while at 1/2 hp or they need to recall and then gank. If the gank is unsuccessful they get punished.

TLDR: Just downvote for calling jungle a lane.

I think my spin on this thought is that Riot has consistently increased "interactivity" to the point that we have too much of it.

I get it; you don't like passive supports. And you don't like farm junglers. And you don't like farm fiestas in top lane. But without any of those options, the game feels less and less strategic. League's appeal lies in the mixture of strategy and ARPG elements, but we're a bit heavy on the ARPG elements right now. Could use the injection of more strategic diversity.

Specifically, Riot has done an excellent job introducing good options for proactive play. Herald, support changes, drake changes, etc. A lot of those things are good, but I also want to see some options for skillful reactive play. That, imo, is a hole in League right now.

Interactivity doesn't even always feel bad. What feels bad is having the game accelerated to the point where its just constant kill or die. 50+ kill games just aren't enjoyable. There is nothing but killing/dying and walking back to lane. It gets old either running it down at them or being afk under my own tower.

That's kinda what I mean. If there were ways of skillfully defending against all the aggression, that would be good.

The interactivity is great, but it's all offense. Even with the support changes, they started by taking away shield power and adding it as skill damage, to try to encourage interactivity. Then the shield changes came through and showed that you can implement skillful with defense, too. We need more of that.

Now high sustain junglers are meta, Thanks. Nunu Warwick Fiddlesticks

That sustain can always be nerfed appropriately or give them actual trade offs where they aren't as good at ganking which is what they historically traded.

I actually made the mistake of upvoting this because I agree with your title, which I admit is stupid of me. After actually reading your post, I disagree.

The jungle IS just another lane, .. but I think the issue that players fail to understand is that the jungler is not a support role for top, mid, and bot lane. People only expect to get help from the jungler, but they don't think they also need to help the jungler.

I so often see players sit in their lane, waiting for the wave to bounce back into them when the enemy jungler is spotted invading or is fighting with their jungler near the lane.

When I'm jungling and my laners don't react to me being invaded at a time that they are free to do so, .. I'm not likely to gank for them when I'm trying to catch up in the farm that I missed out on.
