Why Nerf Aurelian Sol again?

:(

They are reducing the base damage of his w by half at each rank, in exchange for a slight mana cost reduction. I just don't see this as being worth.

Edit: at the time of post, the only thing out were the w nerfs.

They also increased his passive damage at higher ranks and reduced the mana cost in general it seems.

It's a net buff. Or kind of a nerfbuff.

SpongebobIsLife1 votes

yeah that wasnt posted at the time I made this post.

They make a huge nerf first to see where that is then buff it up to a number still lower than live.

I can understand the mana thing (It barely cost any mana at low levels) But cutting the base damage bonus in half? That seems a bit excessive....

it costs a shitload of mana at early levels. that's why everyone builds mana on him.

hes op

SpongebobIsLife4 votes

can't tell if that's sarcasm or not lol

Astôlfo3 votes

Nah it's just stupidity.

specter4242 votes

u must be retarded or low elo if u think aurelion sol isnt op

SlntReaper1 votes

Sol is bad rn, he has no bases and scalings are shit. Besides, what elo are you how boosted are you?

specter4243 votes

his mains have like 58% winrate he has no weakness outside of assassin mids, anyone else he can bully and he is great at roaming

SlntReaper1 votes

His mains have OTP'd him. When you play only Sol since his release you tend to get a 58% WR. And his weakness against assassins? Too bad, 70% of all games have some kind of an assassin, usually Zed. Plus, he's weak against poke mages, because early game his stars do 20 damage and rotate very slowly. And finally, he's more of a top laner, which invalidates most of your points of "being able to bully mids." He can get nuked top by any bruiser because he's made of glass. Or rather stardust [slayer-jinx-wink]

i would never play him top, lane's too long and he's too slow.

but you are right about the OTP. Riot justifies not nerfing heimerdinger due to his win rate because they say it's artificially high because people who play heimer main heimer. same with Sol

CeexSett1 votes

"Early game his stars rotate too slowly"

You know the speed is unchangeable? And those poke laners got nothing on him because he just insta shoves lane and they can't cs under turret.

SlntReaper1 votes

He has no damage. Plus he doesn't have good scalings. And he has a zone where he can't q or w, so all he can do is uselessly aa you.

CeexSett1 votes

He actually has great damage against most ap's in mid from level 1 to 5, since they only got 3 sometimes 2 spells, and autos, and he got continuous DPS. His only problem are melees, but other ranged have problems with him as soon as he gets Rilays.

SlntReaper1 votes

The problem is, he does no damage. They are taking half of his damage out. And like I said, he can't hit enemies in a certain zone. Plus assassins shut him down easily, and zed/yasuo are in about 90% of all games. And finally, mages can go against him. His stars are predictable and dodge-able. Plus he's generally shit with terrible bases and terrible scalings.

CeexSett1 votes

I don't know where are you getting that information. His playrbase only needs an average of 5 games to surpass 50% win rate, and experienced mains get up to 64% win rate (wtf), which stabilizes at a confortable 55% win rate.

He is alo 21th place in damage dealt out of 47 mid laners analyzed, which is more than half. It's not assassin-level damage, but he still hurts when he gets his item 3030 item 3116

SlntReaper1 votes

Ok, but any old noob who ISN'T a Sol main will absolutely get wrecked. And I'd say if you play five games with a champion, you probably like that champion so much you'll end up maining it.

CeexSett1 votes

He has a high skill cap, it is meant to be hard in the first games.

LatetotheRace1 votes

Tbh anything with sticking power and CC destroy him and mitigate his damage. If you hard cc him after he activates his W, that's a large portion of his damage gone for the rest of the fights. Plenty of top laners, assassin mids, jungles and even supports can shut him down. The problem is at high elos people know how to peel for the carries. I.E. Aurelion.

Astôlfo2 votes

Coincidentally, almost no one fucking plays Aurelion. Also coincidentally, every single champion with a gapcloser or CC shits on Aurelion.

CHEAT ENGINE ssd1 votes

and now he's going to be even worse.

CHEAT ENGINE ssd1 votes

He's pretty good at roaming, not amazing, not as good as quin, who is much faster, can travel any direction she wants, needs no warm up, and has point click CC and big burst. not as good as TF. he is good, but it's not like he's the #1 in the game at it. he has long as cool downs, his passive gets interrupted all the time, and usually needs to build pretty defensively .

Any bruiser just destroys him, stuff like irelia and xin and darius and garen and jax and ..................all of them.

WolfChases6 votes

Aurelion Sol is the champion I saw only once as support since release :D

KoKoboto3 votes

They nerfed early damage so he can't shove and waveclear so fast early and roam at level 3 and kill your bot lane

LatetotheRace1 votes

Well if your eyes are open his options get limited. He can't really dive early or ever for that matter.

doubleguac2 votes

I know he's not very popular, but he does have a pretty crazy win rate, especially for players who are experienced on him...

Seems weird to nerf his damage so hard though. Is that really the problem with his kit (if there even is a problem)?

Frius2 votes

such wasted potential ,the champs looks amazing

Michael Bacon2 votes

Aurelion Sol is extremely strong right now. There is a reason why there are players in Challenger have over 60% win rates with him. Once he hits level 3 he can completely control the flow of the game from there. Imagine if Twisted Fate had better waveclear early and got his ultimate level 3. Thats Aurelion Sol. Watch this guy's replays:

Marshbouy2 votes

Because his mains have 65% winrates.

BioticBrony2 votes

They also increased his passive damage by 33 damage at level 20. So it is a late game buff but a early game nerf.

Dracocrash1 votes

wow never seen a champ get level 20 in a regular game -.-

CeexSett1 votes

Aurelion sol in URF OP, they are getting him ready for next week.

What is the powerspike at level 23?

Velasan1 votes

His winrates IMO have a lot to do with how good his kit is at setting things up. He has solid forms of engage & disengage paired with the ability to get to wherever the fight is happening very quickly.

His damage is good, but not the thing that's pushing that win rate.

IMO he's fine as is, because those win rates reflect a lot of skill and time with the champion. If you are looking at champ GG it's also a very small sample size of about 200 - 300 games. Plus we are in a brusier meta starting to turn away from tanks, and he excels at stopping bruisers who have to chase people.

Schàdenfreude1 votes

because LCS.

Some pro player on CLG or C9 or something mains him.

Stars Shaper1 votes

There are also some goodies not listed in the S@20 update.

Meddler replied with them: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/M8nasIhr-other-aurelion-sol-nerf?comment=00000001

Tacosrock1 votes

Well considering the last roaming mage (Taliyah) just got her damage gutted, it leaves Aurelion Sol a prime pick over her. I only think he should get nerfed because Taliyah was nerfed... otherwise, I never would've had an issue with him.

71883083DEL11 votes

lol i haven't seen a sol in forever

LatetotheRace1 votes

At this rate you never will.

Teridax681 votes

If you check Surrender@20, he's also getting the base damage on his passive buffed to 20-130 from the current 20-97, giving him 155 base damage at level 18 instead of the current 147. This is still technically a nerf to his early game damage, since his passive damage ramps up more slowly when ranking up W, but he's also getting a pretty nice buff to his E, in which he no longer needs to build up Escape Velocity to use the active. It's difficult to gauge the overall impact of these changes, but overall this might be a buff.

Kingdom Corn1 votes

You have to remember this patch is ALL ABOUT WORLDS not about us normal players it is about the pro scene and aurelion is pretty good in the pro scene rn so they are adjusting him for the pros right now. Hopefully tho next patch will buff aurelion or something because I agree kind of a not needed nerf for us casuals.

Solari Fortune3 votes

Actually these nerfs are the patch AFTER worlds

Kingdom Corn1 votes

Oh so you are talking about PBE? if so dont worry remember when nidalee's pounce had a 50% slow? then never made it to the game? yeah they are just fucking around with shit like usual

Solari Fortune1 votes

PBE is an experiment Server, so they gotta experiment, also not all the Sol Changes made it so not all the info is there

Evewynn1 votes

Well, meddler addressed this in another thread. His win rate is too high for experienced players. It's almost Azir all over again (not as bad though).

I can understand why it's being done, it just really feels bad for me and other people who love playing him.

Lady Hammerlock1 votes

I'm so triggered by this post his passive damage got buffed late game, W passive damage reduced by 25 this is exactly an 8 base damage buff late game

did you only see the nerfs? Where are your links? Why would leave out that grotesque buff???
