Don't gank the lane that needs it, gank the lane where you're most likely to succeed

So, hypothetical scenario is this:

Bot lane: Blue Taric Ez getting owned by Purple Lucian/Thresh. Top lane: Blue Xin vs Purple Karthus (always pushed) Mid: Let's keep mid out of the picture by assuming they're equal. Jungle: Blue Yi and Purple Kayle (to make them somewhat equal as both farm junglers with shitty ganks)

Xin, as one can imagine, would theoretically have a very easy time killing Karthus on his own, especially early game. Blue bot would likely be spam pinging for help. However personally, I think a 0/0 Yi would probably wouldn't do much at bot anyway, except maybe scaring them off to heal after burning his ult/summoners, accomplishing nothing. However, if he camps top to share some of Xin's income on Karthus, and then goes bot (maybe with Xin's help after owning top and taking turret) after getting a few items to even the field... what do you think?

I don't know why you're downvoted, it's the truth. Probably salty ADCs who think the game revolves around them.

It's much better to obtain an advantage somewhere else than try to damage control the losing lane.

Instead you should win a different lane and have that guy either gank bot with you or apply so much pressure you can gank without retaliation.

If you try to catch up to someone with a head start by taking the same path, you'll never make it.

To play the devil's advocate: Considering bot lane is the ADC lane (the people who scale into lategame), if the winning lane doesn't have a good late game presence maybe it's a bad idea. That being said, you're kind of fucked either ways if that happens, considering those lategame people are already near their lategame (with that feed).

So in the end, I think my initial plan still works best.

The idea isn't that the winning lane replaces the ADC. The idea is to use the strength elsewhere on the map to make room for helping bot. Even a fed ADC dies to one stun and focus. By getting another lane fed you either get a chance to go bot and reverse the direction, since as you said your ADC scales even from behind, or your fed person applies enough pressure that if the enemy goes for 3v3 or 4v4 bot you win somewhere else.

Trying to go straight to camping the losing bot lane is just going to lead to the other jungler coming down and forcing a 3v3 where they have the lead.

The only real exception is if the enemies are making a risky dive, then the team should show up to help. I guess the simple way to put it is don't try to save lost lanes without getting your own advantage first. The most you should do is damage control.

I gank the lane with the largest potential to snowball out of control and carry my ass. If none of my laners are good, I take all the kills and try to carry them instead.

If you are POSITIVE that you can get top to snowball to the point where you can then crash mid and then crash bot, then sure, go for it. However, if you DO cash in on top but do nothing with it, then that enemy bot lane will come back and bite you in the rear as they're the ones who will carry mid and late game while your own bot lane is irrelevant.

Well, this scenario was for bot lane but I was thinking more of a general kind of situation where there's an easy lane vs a feeding lane. Where would you go as a jungler?

You are correct, I don't jungle, but as a Mid-laner, I roam to the lane where I see an opportunity to get something (summoners, kill, draw jungler/pressure, tower) over a lane that simply "needs a gank".

By that same token, I don't expect ganks in my lane just because I "need" them, I just try to make it easy for my jungler TO GANK if they can/tell me that they will. Instead, I want them to go to the lane that they can snowball. Sometimes that's me. Sometimes it's not.

Yeah, going to the feeding lane will, at best, narrow the gap in lane, and at worst, just snowball the enemy beyond your reach.

You gank the lanes that are even or winning. However, bot side ganks are more valuable in that the dragon is on that half of the map.

When junglers camp top, they give up the opportunities for dragons. By showing face top side it permits the enemy jungler to take a dragon by himself or with just the support helping.

I had to read your scenario a couple times, it was a little incoherent. But it sounds like you just camped top while bottom requested ganks.

Sorry about that, not sure how to reword it properly but let's put it this way:

2 lanes in question here, let's leave all other lanes out of the equation for simplicity's sake. Top = Easy $ (or something you're pretty sure you're gonna get) Bot = Fed enemy, potential of you dying yourself in that lane, and your laners are weak that ganking is unlikely to achieve anything.

The dilemma here is a common one, do you sacrifice bot lane for the time being? Because ganking that, would be a gamble with the odds stacked against you. In which if you fail, you not only fall behind as well but the nearly ungankable bot now is truly ungankable. Yet... if you don't gank soon enough, the same situation arises, except it's more gradual rather than an instant snowball from a triple kill.

That being said, I'm really putting it out there for all lanes though, I just happened to use bot lane as an example. Would you sacrifice the feeding top lane to gank a winning bot lane? Or does the situation change with the lanes?
