Pickaxe's Influence on early builds

Let me just start of by saying Pickaxe is a great component item that fits a very favorable spot in the leage build paths of many ad champions. That being said buying a pickaxe generally means 3 things 1) your going for IE and you cant buy your B.F., 2) your going for Hydra and cant buy your Tiamat or 3) your going for Last Whisper and cant afford the whole thing. It also has a few other uses in Manamune, Zephyr and Maw but those are conditional and champion based. With all this why am i crying out over a lack of diversity then?

Well for these example lets say your an adc on your first back from bot lane without enough gold to buy your B.F. sword. Lets look at your realistic options.

First with have item 3508 a great AD item with a huge verity of benefits that can be good or great depending on the champion. The best most likely being (after the core 80 ad obv.)the 10% cooldown and mana regen on hit ability. What amazing stats! So what components can i buy now? Well there's item 1038 which i cant afford and item 1053 which is nice but neither the cooldown or mana regen i need right now. I could by the item 1053 for the sustain but im a spell focused champion who get almost no benefits from that other than the measly 10 AD! and after that i still have gold to spend that cant go toward this item. I could by another item 1036 or item 1001 but that just means it'll take that much longer to get the cooldown and regen i so desire. Guess ill have to look elsewhere.

Second we have item 3072 another great Ad item that gives me amazing sustain and poke protection in the form of sustain and the shield. Lets look at this items components! Another item 1038 which i cant afford just right now and item 1053 which will be very us full in getting some sustain vs this poke lane but means ill be mostly deprived of any future damage until i can afford my item 1038 Sword sadly. As much as i want that item 1053 i cant help but feel kneecapped in the damage department and punished for trying to itemize against my opponent. Guess ill have to again look for better options.

Third we have item 3031. and as before its a great ad item that gives very good all be it random benefits in lane. As much as i want to get this item i cant help but feel this might be a better buy after my crit-attack speed item where it will jump in overall power and effectiveness. So what are the components? well we again have that darn item 1038 and now a item 1018 which is really a conditional item at best. Wait whats this? 25 attack damage now for only 75 gold more than my item 1053 with less than half that? Thats just what i needed for this early back! A medium core damage item to build into my first large core damage item! Perfect il lget this for damage now rather than havering to wait till next back or having to buy items that do much till later.

And that item 3072 you were thinking of buying as a top lane bruiser but didn't want to wait for the damage of the item 1038 well now you can buy a item 1037 that has a very forgiving multi stage build path into item 3074. And that item 3508 you wanted for the cooldown and mana regen? Well now we have item 1037 that builds into a item 3004 with again a very forgiving build path.

TLDR(still kinda long sry) I find it frustrating as someone who wants to build item 3072 and item 3508 but cant because my lane opponent going for the meta has such an advantage in his/her build path while im stuck waiting on that damn B.F. Sword. So to not fall behind its pickaxe intoitem 3031 , item 3074 , item 3004 . Im not saying add a pickaxe to everything but giving items like item 3072 one might help the items health in seeing early play as a counter to unfavorable match ups while adding item 3114 to item 3508 build path would help champions looking for that cooldown and mana sustain early away from having to go with late game items like item 3004. There are obvious balance issues that would have to be looked at and maybe your happy with the meta as is but it would be nice if you could look into items with extremely barren build paths who are replaced by other (sometimes less optimal items) with very easy and forgiving build paths.(I could have similarly added the item 3156 vs item 3139 issue witch fits in very well but i felt it didn't apply as well as the others.)
