- Must read - From Junglers to Laners (Not a rant)
Hello guys!
The purpose of this thread is to give a head up to Top, Mid and Bot laners who never (who rarely) play Jungle. I'm going to try to keep it short and focused to share the maximum amount of information I want to talk about to you laners.

The jungle is now a more dangerous place for every player in a game. This is due to: Increase of monsters strength and toughness, there is a new monster/objective, smite's cooldown has been increased, monsters and jungle items now provide different advantages for different situations and Dragon/Baron are now more useful than ever, which means team fights for those objectives are now even more important.
-
These aspects put together make the jungle not only "a place to get gold and a few buffs", but now a place where important decisions are made to have access to a large selection of different little and big advantages.
To learn almost everything you need to know about jungle changes, I recommend you watch the 0:40 to 2:30 portion of this video from Riot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=aKL6FcB0g9s#t=40)]
Now that you've read this and hopefully watched the video, you need to know that even if you're not a jungler, there are tons of way for you to help your team win the game by using what the jungle has to offer you and assisting your jungler at the right time.
-
Give your jungler a decent leash. Ask him if he's gonna smite, if he doesn't smite, stay for another couple of auto attacks. It makes the difference between a jungler who's too low to gank from a jungler who can give you a kill or make your opponent waste a flash for free. The sooner he gets his comfortable level of ganking, the sooner he's going to have this map pressure. You might miss a couple of minions for it, but play safe until you catch up your opponent's level and you'll be fine AND your jungler will have a great start.
-
Pay attention to your jungler's communication (pings, messages). This has always been important but it is even more now since the jungle is now a place that doesn't forgive mistakes as much as it used to. He might communicate to give a buff, to secure an objective, to ask assistance, to set up a gank, to counter jungle a specific camp, etc. It is your job to answer to this communication and the quicker you do it the better it will be.
-
Don't be scared of taking initiative regarding what the jungle has to offer to you. Even if you're not the one with Smite, a great move/strategy will always be a great move/strategy no matter from who it comes from. Just make sure you will get the assistance you need (if required). Again, communication is now more important than ever.

Don't judge your jungler's champion, summoner spells, runes and masteries and items. The way the new jungle has transformed allows for more diversity in all those categories I just mentioned. For sure, picks like Lee Sin, Kha Zix and company are still strong but more champions might become viable if they use the jungle correctly AND if you give them a chance. If you're uncertain about your jungler's future behavior, ask him what he's planning to do (For example: The first time I saw a jungler Skarner in my team, I was mid and before 1:55, I made sure to ask him what I should expect from him and what he expects from me.)
That's it for me. I might edit to add more content in this thread if I think of something else I wanted to share. I hope you find it helpful and/or interesting. Have a nice day y'all!
