Kog is an outlier, apparently

Didn't help that Riot's last 'buff' ended up being a nerf instead.

What's the point of crushing a champ's late game and giving them a marginally better early game, but still leaving them with the worst early game of any ADC? I just can't fathom it. Either Riot needs to suck it up and let Kog being a 40 minute time-bomb, or just embrace his old identity as a mid-game power spike champion and stick with that.

I'm pretty sure they meant outlier as in he was far weaker than they intended. I think it's very obvious Riot has no idea what to do with Kog'Maw.

Yes.

That's exactly what they meant.

Outlier as in too weak as opposed to outlier as in too strong.

Which is why I'm puzzled. If he's obviously crippled (and he is) then he should be getting actual buffs instead of buff/nerfs that don't actually improve anything.

Riot doesn't want to accidentally buff too much so that he becomes OP, they have experience with this stuff.

Conceptually, I like where he's going. But yeah, they certainly didn't do much to support it. They doubled his AS with reduced AD damage. Which makes him look like the On hit champ. The only problem being, Just about every on hit item got nerfed with it. (BotRK, Runan's, Wit's end) Now granted some of those items where already pretty strong. (especially when combined with Devourer.) But it feels like they didn't consider these when they balanced the new Kog'maw. (or at least didn't look close enough.) The only redeeaming thing about the items is Rageblade. But that's getting balanced around far greater offenders of the item.

I can only for see a couple of directions. Either they return some of the AD nerf against champs to his W active, which would make him less reliant on on-hit effects, and allowing him to build more like a normal ADC. (AS heavy though.) Alternatively with items like Rage blade and Nashor's tooth, he could become an AP/AS carry. Though I doubt that would have any place in the bot lane.

But like Always, Riot is going to be overly cautious on the matter because of how easily Kog can break a team comp. More so now that he doubles AS from all sources. If Kog was a good all around ADC, a team comp built around him would almost certainly be overbearing.

It's fiddly, isn't it?

I think it would be safer to nudge up Kog's base values instead of giving him monstrous scaling with the goal of making him a little less reliant on going balls to the walls glass cannon. Kog balanced around being a ranged Juggernaut of sorts (crazy base damage, no mobility) is something that could probably work in Solo without making him broken in competitive play.

Because if Riot ever makes glass cannon Koggy as attractive in solo to build a team around as, say, MF, then he would destroy any sort of organized game.

I don't like mid game kog. I want late game kog.

its going to be really difficult to buff kog maw to a reasonable level without making him flat out broken.

with the range and attack speed increase on his new w he would be able to poke the shit out of any lane opponent every time its off cooldown.

tbh im not even sure if kog is too weak right now, or essence reaver adc arent just way too strong. and then look at his lategame competition. jinx and vayne.

both are self reliant to a point that its stupid and bring similar damage to the table.

imo, nerf essence reaver, nerf vaynes lategame damage, nerf jinx ability to self peel. the way i see a lategame adc is exactly like kog and twitch. tons of damage, but incapable of surviving without protection.

riot has been breaking this rule too many times. jinx is almost an ad scaling utility mage with a twitch ult on her q, and vayne has so much outplay potential that she can practically 1v2 a lot of champs lategame.

It all went wrong when they removed the AD scaling on Kogs W. He's not classified as an ADC anymore, everyone just takes him mid lane as an AP champ.

I thought he was a 4 second time bomb?

The main problem is the game duration doesn't favor him. He does have a strong late game.

His investment just isn't worth it right now. Banking on late game is a bad idea.
