Mordekaiser's Q isolation

Cogito Ergo Sol ··92 votes·2,640 views

Can we make his Q like Kha'zix's?Talking about the signal where the opponent will take bonus damage because is isolated. Right know tons of people don't even know that Mace of Spades deals bonus damage if the targed is isolated. Upvote, thanks

Here the stats Mace of Spades RANGE: 600 COST: 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 / 40 HEALTH COOLDOWN: 8 / 7 / 6 / 5 / 4 Mace of Spades ACTIVE: Mordekaiser enhances his next attack, increasing the range of this attack by 75 and converting it to deal magic damage and replacing the base attack damage component with a base amount of damage. He swings his mace with such force that it echoes out, striking up to 3 additional nearby enemies. MAGIC DAMAGE: 80 / 110 / 140 / 170 / 200 (+ 40% AP) (+ 100% bonus AD) If the target is isolated, the ability deals 65% more damage. SINGLE TARGET MAGIC DAMAGE: 132 / 181.5 / 231 / 280.5 / 330 (+ 66% AP) (+ 165% bonus AD)

Kha'Zix is not the only one able to do extra damage to isolated targets. Mordekaiser can do it too.

Karthus can do it too, with his Q.

Karthus isn't the same. His q does a pretty small area.

How is it not the same, though? It deals bonus damage when the target is 'isolated' or you aim it properly. Mordekaiser does more damage if they're 'isolated' or you aren't facing away from other targets (i.e., you are facing them outwards from their minion wave) and Kha'Zix does more damage if they are away from other enemies.

None of these are the same, all of them are similar.

Well Karthus dies in 5 seconds and has been horrible in the last couple of metas for a while now. I miss karthus's prime. And Talon's. ;-;

He probably meant that Morde and Kha are about isolated targets (nothing's near the target), and Karthus is about just hitting one unit (easier when nothing's nearby, but no requirement). Admittedly I wasn't aware facing direction matters for Morde's Q, if that's the case.

ElJanitorFrank1 votes

Yes, you can think of it as sort of a hidden cone effect. He'll only hit enemies that are behind the initial target, the projectiles won't travel sideways or behind him.

Ever been hit by an isolated gunblade/lich bane morde? Yeah, that's why your screen is grey.

I'd love to see his play pattern changed so that it focuses more on his Qs gameplay and less about his E. After all, a giant armor plated mace wielding giant should probably be crushing you with his mace, not playing like some punk ass mage standing back on the backline because he just got his nails and hair did.

It's not like he's ever going to use that spell against someone that matters. The gripe I've always had with Morde's Q (and W) is that they're essentially useless when trying to burst that enemy ADC down and get a super OP ghost to wreck face with. Sure it's nice against melee assailants or if you flash to hit them with it, but otherwise Mace of Spades is only good for waveclear.

Though clarity would always be nice. (Upvoted too cuz I love Morde)

Just stop buying item 3152 and get yourself a item 3146. Getting into melee range with the active is a piece of cake.

Morde auto attacks, split pushes, and even has an AD ratio on his Q, but no CC of any kind. item 3146 was practically designed for Mordekaiser.

Raid Boss Morde1 votes

Wota is cheaper, has a better spell vamp passive, and gives CDR, which is amazing on Mordekaiser. Lifesteal and AD are a huge waste on Mordekaiser, and the passive isn't that good when everyone has a dash. Whenever you slow someone with it, they normally use their dash to get away. Get Rylai's instead of Hextech Gunblade! The new Rylai's gives a 40% slow with his E, 20% slow for 10 seconds with his R, and a 40% slow for 1.5 seconds with his Q. Much better choice!

Big Lincoln1 votes

Well, item 3152 item 3116 is a lot more expensive than item 3146 but I usually build those 2 anyway.

still, item 3146 sort of solves the sustain and CC issue all at once, which frees up an item slot, so I can see why some people do it

Laraso2 votes

I highly disagree. The spellvamp is weaker if you're building mpen, and item 3001 item 3136 item 3135 item 3020 are all commonly built Morde items. Yes Wota is cheaper, and I get it when I'm behind (not very often). But it gives way less damage than Gunblade. Gunblade adds a lot of damage to his Q as it has an AD ratio, lets him push towers faster, but the most important part is the active. The active + extra damage from Q means you're going to have a lot more burst than normal. The only real wasted stat is the lifesteal, but it's not a big deal because of everything else Gunblade gives you. Gunblade is much more slot effecient and when completed gives you a much bigger power spike than Wota. I buy it all the time and the active is very reliable on letting you get close to targets, even ones with dashes.

Yes, Rylais is good. It's even better when paired with a Gunblade.

Champion Skin1 votes

Actually I don't think it helps tower pushing all that much As I believe tower damage works like this Base AD + bonus AD OR 60% of AP

Laraso1 votes

What I meant is that he clears the minion waves faster because of the extra damage on his Q, clearing waves faster enables him to get to the tower faster and take it down

gl0hs0zgf1 votes

I actually never got WOTA :p. I always meant to build my early revolver into gunblade I but always leave it for last. Would I be better off rushing that stuff?

Don't know why Raid Boss Morde and I got downvoted so hard :'( I feel like what we're saying is valid

It would be a great QoL change, might help a bit, even in laning phase trades. Upvoted.

I didn't even know it did more damage if the target was alone.

Always assume no one has any idea what they're doing. You'll seldom be disappointed.

But you'll get screwed over once you find the one that does know what he's doing.

Well, screwed over if they're an opponent, unstoppable if they're on your team.

This is a good time to bring it up, too, with his incoming gameplay update. They're adding new VFX so... Maybe they can
