PSA: It's not Ekko that has overtuned bases, but the combination of IBG, Sunfire and Grasp.

Recently Ekko's popularity in top lane raised due to recent buffs to him and to sunfire cape. Not to mention the fact that he is currently one of the champions that abuses IBG (looking at you Ezreal ) since it's so cheap and stat efficient that it's stupid not to build it. Here there's the comparison between Ekko's bases and Diana's.(I've chosen her since their kit is similar) Ekko:
Passive base magic damage: 20-190 based on level (10 damage per level) on every third spell or base attack on the same target within 4 seconds. Q Base magic damage: 60 / 75 / 90 / 105 / 120 (First hit) and (60 / 85 / 110 / 135 / 160 (Second hit). Total Damage = 280 (Applies mitigation twice if hits 2 times) W Base shield: 80 / 100 / 120 / 140 / 160 + 5% (+1% per 45 ap) magic damage with autos on targets below 30% of their maximux health. E Base magic damage: 50 / 80 / 110 / 140 / 170 R Base magic damage: 200 / 350 / 500 and its healing 100 / 150 / 200 + 20% of damage taken.(Note that the total healing is enchanted by Spirit Visage by 20%). Diana: Passive magic damage: 20-210 AoE on every third base attack within 3.5 seconds. Q Base magic damage: 60 / 95 / 130 / 165 / 200 and applies mitigation once. W Base shield: 40 / 55 / 70 / 85 / 100 (Almost every time you use this spell it detonates raising up the shield to 80 / 110 / 140 / 170 / 200) plus the magic damage of the orbs 22 / 34 /46 / 58 / 70 per orb (total magic damage of 66 / 102 / 138 / 174 / 210 and applies mitigation three times) R Base magic damage: 100 / 160 / 220 (200 / 320 / 440 with Q's reset and applies mitigation twice) As you can see there is nothing crazy with Ekko's base damage; what makes him so strong in the top lane is the fact that he brings tons of utility while still building tank and the combination of item 3068 item 3025 and grasp of the undying being so strong. TL; DR: Ekko's bases are fine, he brings more utility than he should and the combination of sunfire, ibg and grasp is overpowered Thanks for reading this ^o^ and have a nice day :)

Him having so much utility is the bigger issue I think. He's suppose to be an assassin with an escape ult(or flashy ult kills) but he gets slows, a shield, stuns, a move speed buff, bonus damage on missing hp, and a very low cooldown dash. Obviously riot is trying to make new characters to be more diverse and interesting but like Azir and Jhin, these kits do SOOOO much stuff.

Spoofghoul4/5/2016, 7:51:36 PM4 votes

its not item 3068 & item 3025 & grasp

It is his base damage utility and mbility

he has literally everything spammable shit for low manacosts tons of utility on low cooldown whit his slow shield stun bonus damage on low health targets W

He gets 80% movespeed on passive fuck that And damage and a slow

His q also slows and deals good damage

he fucking spams everything

Having stronger base damages then diana on a champion 10x more mobile with 100x the utility and a big fat fuck you ult IS NOT BALANCED

Yes, but nerfing items is not ideal because it hurts champions that don't abuse the item but it's good on.

Can confirm that combo is stupid.

I've been messing around with it on Riven just to prove that its completely bonkers and the power spike I get from iceborne and grasp, even with zero mana to benefit from and essentially wasting part of the gold the item costs, is completely unwarranted for building a defensive item and running a defensive mastery.

It's also Ekko. Yes, the items and mastery are OP but he abuses them at a level that only Poppy and Rammus come close to and they're both getting nerfed next patch. He's next.

Bases are worthless to look at without comparing ratios too. It's not about numbers being high on their own, but comparatively high.

Ekko passive: 190 (+ 80% AP) Diana passive: 250 (+ 80% AP)

Ekko's ratio is more impactful than Diana's here, hands down. That's good.

Ekko's Q: 120 (+ 10% AP), 160 (+ 60% AP) - overall, 280 (+ 70% AP) Diana Q: 200 (+ 70% AP)

Diana wins comfortably here. In particular, look at the first hit of Ekko's Q. The AP ratio is so weak on that that you'd need to stack 1200 AP before it outdid the base damage on that ability. Tell me that's not a comparatively high base.

Diana W shield, damage: 200 (+ 60% AP), 210 (+ 60% AP) Ekko W damage, shield: 5% (+ 2.2% per 100 AP), 160 (+ 150% AP)

Great ratios for the most part here, Ekko's shield ratio in particular is absolutely insane. No complaints.

Ekko E: 170 (+ 20% AP)

The base here is way too high/the AP ratio is way too low. 951 AP to surpass the damage on that ability is ridiculous.

Ekko ult damage, heal: 500 (+ 130% AP), 20% (+ 6.6% per 100 AP) Diana ult: 220 (+ 60% AP)

Great ratios on both, ult damage ratio is actually unusually high for Ekko and Di.

Basically his bases are largely OK but he has a couple of big exceptions in his Q first hit and E on-hit. If Riot want him to be building AP then it should make a meaningful contribution to all of his abilities and his first hit Q is particularly lacking given that AP Ekko would be quite a bit more reliant on using it for poke than his tanky builds. I'm not sure why 120 (+ 10% AP) is still on his kit, it's such an obvious issue. The tank items he's using are abusive (particularly IBG) at this point in time but I don't think it's the only reason he's gravitated to that build at all. What I'd do with Ekko outside of item changes is:

Q first hit: 60/75/90/105/120 (+ 10% AP) > 40/50/60/70/80 (+ 30% AP) Q second hit: 60/85/110/135/160 (+ 60% AP) > 80/105/130/155/180 (+ 50% AP)

E: 50/80/110/140/170 (+ 20% AP) > 50/75/100/125/150 (+ 30% AP)

Did you miss the part where they buffed him a couple patches back?

Valexfor4/5/2016, 2:58:54 PM2 votes

I think that if an assassin can build tank, it's not the items fault, else we would have tank Zed, tank Talon, Tank Kata, etc. He might have normal base stats compared to other champs (you use Diana for some reason, guess that's because she's an aa-reliant mage too?), but the sheer utility in his kit (which Diana can't even remotely compare with) and the amount of free gold he gets from his kit, means he can play tanky and still dish out tons of damage with great mobility and a "fuck you" ult, which completely negates everything the enemy might try to do. Ekko is not broken, he just needs his bases nerfed and his scaling buffed so he can't build tanky and get away with it while having an assassin's kit.

you forgot a very imprtant part: Ekkos passive has a 3sec cd on the same target, he can't just hit away and constantly proc it, so the dps he gains from it isn't that high.

Inb4 someone starts building that way on Diana.
