Uh oh, AP Kog is getting popular

So does this mean Riot is going to expend some real effort on giving Marksmen Kog a niche that's actually meaningful?

Or is Riot just going to nuke AP Kog from orbit and call it good?

Plenty of champs have been dumpstered of late, what's one more, right?

Is AP kog getting popular, or is adc kog just that bad? xD

AP kog was always a thing before they reworked him. The revert just brought it back. Though I don't think it's as good as it was back then

Oh, it isn't.

But Riot recently said that if AP Kog is ever 'overbearing' to expect nerfs since they consider him the definition of an unhealthy champion design. It's why they didn't revert Kog's Ult along with the rest of the dumpstering he received.

That hypothetically happened when they changed his ult to more of an execute, leaving it lacking in general Burst potential that the AP kog was picked for.

As for game Health, the problem with AP Kog, was his ult's synergy with Crystal scepter. You land one ult, and you won't miss another. (which apperantly means, lack of counterplay) However, Riot is planing on making changes to crystal scepter real soon, so I wouldn't hold my breath for this.

People were theorycrafting about the new Scepter breaking AP Kog when it was changed in Season 5, but it had very little impact on Kog's strength even when he had his old poke-of-doom Ult. AP Kog has only ever been directly nerfed once in the history of League, back when Athene's was first added to the game. All the other nerfs he has eaten have been targeting Marksmen Kog, either due to over-buffs or because of Riot messing up early game Marksmen itemization.
