Why do people honestly think Riven is OP?
I want some solid reasoning here not
"She is so cancer omg I picked Kat top and she got super lucky and killed me 4 times and then just rolled our team, what bullshit"

Most people have issues with her kit being overloaded and the fact that every one of her abilities scales off of AD. She has high mobility (4 dashes), CC, an AD scaling shield, a strong steroid and an execute.
She isn't OP.
She is broken, which means her kit has one or more mechanics in it that are bad for the game.
She is incredibly snowbally because she has high mobility, high bonus AD scalings, and crazy kill potential when equal or ahead of her lane opponent. She is not OP though because she is just as likely to also feed horribly if her cheese doesn't pay off. The bad things about her kit are that she:
- Is resourceless, but unlike most resourceless champs, she doesn't sacrifice much if any late game for it in comparison to a mana user.
- Has a very strong AD scaling shield that is also attached to another gratuitous dash. Sorry, but any champion who gains defense without sacrificing offense is very hard to balance in most circumstances.
- Only has bonus AD scalings outside her passive, which means an itemless Riven is about as useless as a melee minion. this makes it very hard for her to come back from a losing match.
So yeah, the bad stuff isn't all that "her kit is too gud", but also that her kit has a lot of flaws that in order to keep her remotely balanced must be compensated for by having strong early game damage, which leaves her a snowbally, rather hellish lane opponent who often will be able to wreck your face after a single screwup, but will get rekt if she makes a minor screwup herself.
I don't believe Riven is OP. However, I appear to be in the minority.
The complaints you see are based on a few things

Riven snowballs hard if she can get ahead. (But honestly any of the assassins does this.)

All of Riven's abilities scale off AD. (Many champions are this way, but somehow only Riven is hated for it.)

Riven has high mobility as she has 2 abilities with dashes and one can be used 3 times in a row. (Zed, LeBlanc, Lee Sin, Ahri all have similar levels of mobility, but since Riven is the only top laner, she gets complained about the most.)
What I've discovered/noticed is.
A) Unless you know how to time your Q-AA-Q-AA-Q-AA-W combo you throw away a ton of damage when you attack. B) Riven has no regen until she gets life steal and dies easily early. C) Riven relies on her abilities so stuns, roots and silences mess her up fast D) Riven is horrible if she is behind.
But the people who believe she is OP just never learned to fight one and complain that she's OP. She isn't, she's just tough to fight unless you know her kit and how to face it.
Because ppl are bad and learning how to counterpick takes too much work.
Incredibly overpowered early game, if you aren't a tank you either feed or lose 80% CS. Between all the CC and the shield you literally can't fight her as most of the top lane cast, and her mobility means she will always try to fight you.
Because she scale too well...
I don't think she's "OP" per say, I just find her annoying when she gets fed, just like any other snowball capable champion. I also find her shield scaling off how much AD she has to be pretty toxic, and her mobility/cc to both be a little strong for a champion with such an overloaded kit.
Go in on her? She's outie. Get engaged? Can't outrun her. Try to zone? Shield, dashout, dashin again when shield is back up. Meanwhile, you're in danger.
It's not about te impossibility to win against er, it's about the fact that she makes your game a non-game. Like Teemo.
Number one reason is the fact people do not know how to play against her.
Reasons she can be seen as OP: -She is rather easy to snowball with and use. -Missing skills with her are forgiving since she is manaless. -Scales really well with AD and even has a shield that scales with it as well. -Honestly she does have nearly everything the game can throw at you other than innate sustain, but that is solved with items.
She is setup for being an extremely strong champ, but learning her weaknesses can help you shut her down.
Can she at least have a flat shield like Jarvan does? Or have some low mana costs? this champion has an answer to everything.
I'm with a lot of people in this thread when I say she isn't OP, her scaling is just bork'ed.
I just find it annoying that she has the same potential as Assassins in that she can get shit on the entire laning phase, multiple deaths, no farm, the whole shebang, then suddenly come out of nowhere and get a triple and carry from that point on.
