Guys, Cassieopeia is all well and good and is an issue worth discussing, but...

Urgot Poppy

What is the news on these two champions?

Urgot has consistently been the worst champion in the League of Legends for at least a year or two. Poppy has been bottom of the barrel as well.

Is there any chance there will be any news on these two soon?

Poppy's rework is in the works. So is Urgot's.

Nobody on this forum has any interest in a discussion besides labeling Stashu as Hitler though.

They've been "in the works" for months now, can we actually see something? Even if it's a failed prototype kit?

Kingsgrave4 votes

Considering they go through like 50 kits they probably shouldn't show us anything. People will get attached to one thing and then start obsessing over why Riot didn't go with that.

Months isn't much. Other reworks have taken upwards of half a year from the point of the kit being announced, much less from when the actual thing was announced, and that was for some easier reworks. It's going to take some time, and we're not seeing anything about it until season 5. Waiting sucks, but right now there really isn't much else to do.

Sion was in the works for years. Once bitten, twice shy. They are trying to put together kits that can be balanced.

And failing terribly because, as it turns out, Riot doesn't know shit about game design or even making functional champions.

If you like Urgot or Poppy, you should not want them to be reworked.

Hm, and yet his win rate sits around 50%. Doesn't sound like fail to me. FYI, if you want to say they can't make functional champs, you're saying every champ is a failure, in which case, just go play another game.

It's not a matter of liking them, they have toxic kits and are in need of reworks because they can warp the game if they get ahead.

TWO threads about Stashu and Cass. Hyperbole much?

Tapu Fini2 votes

Did you see the amount of constructive talk going on it the one thread that finally got attention? I doubt it. You still seem to think we just want Stashu's head.

Yeah, there's still some disdain, but the vast majority of the little we're getting, is going quite well.

All I see is like 4 new cass whining + stashu is hitler threads a day.

The Cass threads are merited by how garbage and needless her rework was. And Stashu isn't Hitler, he's just stupid.

Not super true, I would love to see reworks for Poppy and Urgot too, but i also used to play a lot of Cass, and Cass was EXTREMELY popular before her rework, which became the problem. I do not see Stashu as anything else but someone who is working hard, but just may be in a stump. The difference is that Cass's rework came out, and it SHATTERED her...that is the problem.

LeeDark2 votes

Poppy is fine. She is difficult to be successful with, but ridiculous once you get her going.

Urgot is in a worse position, sure, but he has a fan base that likes him. All he needs is a bit of tweaking to be viable.

Unfortunately, both champions are already up for reworks. And I'm calling it here, though many have already called it before, Riot will find a way to completely screw up on both of them. Poppy they are guaranteed to screw up. Urgot is less likely, since his identity as a poke champ isn't hard to hold on to in a rework. If Poppy keeps her ult, either it will suck, or the rest of her kit will. Otherwise, they'll drop the ult and piss off everyone who likes Poppy.

Remlap12232 votes

As someone who mains a champion who is headed for the rework department and is also very nervous about what they will do to him (Gangplank), I will have to say that Poppy's ult has got to go. There is zero counterplay to it. You ult the support, and dive the carry under the tower. This ain't like Pantheon who has one to two tower shots of immunity, Poppy can realisticly tank about 5 to 6 turrent shots with ZERO health damage. Basically, there's only one person on the team that can damage Poopy once she ults, and if the player has any brain capacity whatsoever, they're going to choose the tank or the support, aka the ones that are going to do no damage to Poppy.

LeeDark1 votes

Doesn't really matter. If they don't keep the ult, Poppy won't be Poppy. Her ult is really the only somewhat iconic part of her. The rest of her kit is lackluster standard bruiser stuff. If they get rid of the ult, it will piss off everyone who plays Poppy now. If they don't get rid of the ult, everything else they do will be an overall nerf compared to what she has currently.

I'm convinced that "rework" has just become a stealth term for "nerf the shit out of."

Remlap12231 votes

Right, cuz Nidalee and Maokai are Urgot tier now (heavy sarcasm.) And no, the rest of her kit isn't just "lackluster standard bruiser stuff", there's only one other champion that can pin targets against the wall Vayne. The fact of the matter is that while Poppy's ult is, yes, arguably the most iconic part of her, it's also the most toxic part, and probably the biggest reason why she's never going to get buffed. Occam's razor convinces me that they're going to remove the ultimate rather than keep it and make her regular abilities crap. Doesn't make sense from a design point to create a super OP ultimate, but have all of her abilities do nothing. It's literally the exact opposite problem of Urgot.

LeeDark1 votes

The pinning against the wall is slightly interesting, but mostly, the skill is just a gap closer... LIKE EVERY OTHER BRUISER.

Also, I'll have you notice that Nidalee and Maokai both kept their ults and all their skills. Their reworks weren't even reworks. SION is a rework. Not a bad one, but not great either. At the very least, they used new ideas to give him a more interesting kit, but just by the numbers, he isn't as strong as he used to be. More useful, arguably, but weaker.

Also... For having a "super OP" ultimate, she sure doesn't get picked much.... strange that. Done with you. Goodbye.

IDK, I saw Urgot's free again this week, so that's something. He's not to Yorick status.

Seriously, I'm looking forward to having some fun with Urgot this week.

Tapu Fini2 votes

Yorick was purposefully removed. They feel his kit is toxic/anti-fun, so he shouldn't be allowed to be free. He's the only champion to be officially removed, currently. (Twitch and Eve got it before the stealth reworks, too.)

I feel Urgot is just fine, he's just super weird in how he works so not a lot of people build teams around him, let alone play him. He's a near-melee artillery tank support bruiser thing. He's just weird....

And Poppy is just the latest of late game carries. Super niche pick.

Not even true. Last time I played her I was killing this Jax, then he hit late game and turned it around on me. At full items he beats her no contest.

Urgot doesn't need a rework. I played him for the first time ever in teambuilder today, in top lane, and absolutely wrecked.

Remlap12232 votes

You don't seem to get it, that's why Urgot is getting shelfed in the first place. Once Urgot lands his E and has tear built, he's just going Q you until you QQ. He's got OP non-ultimate abilities and then a ridiculous ultimate that doesn't fit with his playstyle. He isn't Yorick toxic, but he's up there. I'd put him between Jayce and Teemo in the least fun top laners.

test account1 votes

I was under the impression he needed a rework because literally nobody used him?

Remlap12231 votes

Hardly. He's the only champion in the game who's winrate is actually reflective of his champion health. Riot's leaving him in limbo until they can get him under control. I think that out of all the potential reworks, Urgot players are the least worried about him, just because he's pretty bad, and a low risk for champion identity loss. I think honestly if they can get rid of that stupid lock on his Q after he E's, and give him an ultimate that's reflective of his playstyle, Urgot will fit in with the cool kids again.

So uh, Urgot, we can't hang out anymore. I'm cool now. Sion
