Let's Talk About A Main

bistroh··3 votes·1,107 views

Hello, so I have been playing for a while and never really found a champion I like other than Zed who I rarely play now since he is basically permabanned. I have been asking questions about a main for a while and still haven't really found one I truly enjoy. I have realized what I want however. I know I want a midlaner that can also be played in another role if needed (making their availability higher). I like the casters and assassins, just hard to find which one. I really want someone that is difficult and has a high skill cap so you can always improve on them and learn new things. Also someone that you can just spam and always enjoy (I realize this is kind of opinion based, but most people find fun in the same people). So really someone that is really hard with a high skill cap, you can spam, and can be played in another role if needed (Though this is least important). Also, I get bored trying to really learn a champ except for a few fun ones I have found, which have been easier champs you can learn in 10-20 games. So any tips on spamming a champion and not getting bored of them. Thanks in advanced!

EDIT: I realize it is good to know a variety of champs which I already do, but whenever I see someone who also knows just one champ insanely well I feel like I really need that to enjoy the game. Thanks in advanced!

Kassadin He is an assassin and a caster who is relatively difficult and can be played in both the mid and top lanes.

AP Ezreal. Strongest artillery mage in the game with Syndra level of single target burst that can miss all of his damage if you don't land your skillshots. Each fight whether you wipe the enemy team or become useless is based mostly on whether or not you hit your skills. Has potential for flashy plays, across map snipe plays.

And you can play him bot ADC.

Talon Underrated and Underestimated all the time.

Top and Mid. Caster and Assassin.

Hmm. I have 2 Options for you. We'll see how you like them.

Diana and Cho' Gath.

Both have huge burst, so there is in a way your 'Assassin'. Diana has way more dive potential, which Assassins like, but Cho can walk under turret and take a few to eliminate, which is a bonus. Both build AP on the Damage Items (Rylai's gives Cho a 0 Mana AoE Slow on his Void Spikes every Auto Attack, by the way... great Utility for Team Fights) which is good since most won't stack MR to counter it.

Both can build Defensively, in case of being behind or just wanting to do more in over all team fights.

Both are great at picking off champions, for different reasons. Cho can keep a CC Chain going and eliminate with Ult, Diana can just dive and pop you.

Both rely on Casting. This is huge, since you said you want casters. You can't Cho if you can't land your Q, and part of that is setting up your Rylai's Void Spikes to Slow then your Silence (easier to hit Slowed Champs) so they can't Dash/Flash, leading to that massive Ult of True Damage. You have to have your Combo's down, which I think is what most enjoy about Casters... but you also can just Poke and Sustain until ready as well (if not using abilities on Minions).

Hard to beat Cho Sustain... just kill something and you get HP and Mana back. Add that Mastery with it, you get even more (on a 20 Second CD I think, but it helps). (Same for Support Cho, very non-meta but giving him Relic Shield plus his Passive means never low on HP).

Hard to duel Diana, she's a killer. Hard to duel Cho, he doesn't die.

Diana takes more gold, so Cho is cheaper to build unless going crazy Full AP.

Try them out. Both can Split Push, both can Roam. Both can Assassinate, both rely on Casting. Both can play Top, Mid... and even Jungle. Neither is Banned a ton.

Let me know what you think.

Well, you wanted a Multi-Lane Caster with Assassination Potential that isn't banned or picked away all the time.

I figure these both qualify.

Plus, I love playing both of them. Not sure what you don't find enjoyable, but hey... that's your opinion.

You say you like top and assassin... so yeah play my Rengar top main! Lol... If you master Rengar then he's a good, powerful win, but it still takes engaged playstyles and a heavy mechanical mastery to play well. Seems perfect if you like assassins and top...

While I think that Diana might be hard to pick up, I don't think she's hard to play effectively once you get the hang of her; you will be approaching most situations with more-or-less the same combo in mind: Q > R > (AA) > E > (AA) > W > (AA) > (Q if up again, if not R) > (R if you managed to Q a second time).

Yasuo's easy to pick up but he has one of the highest skillcaps in the game (Salty people getting styled on just call it mindless infinite dashing). Then again, he's banned or picked pretty often due to his safer-but-still-painful Phantom Dancer + Triforce build causing havoc. He can go bruiser top as well.

Why don't you feel like a jerk when one-shotting people under their turret and taking no damage as Zed? Or infinitely harrassing with the easiest combo ever?

bistroh2 votes

Zed takes skill, fizz takes some but is even better at tower diving and one shorting than zed is.

Zed has a low skill floor, doesn't exactly take skill but he can be played much better with knowledge of him

Ahri - has lots of juking potential like zed, she's assassin like, she's a castor. She's easy to get decent at in 10-20 games, but, has a high skill cap so you'll have things to improve on.

Lux Syndra taliyah -these are some champs that I enjoy

It'd be helpful if you were a bit more specific in what you like about assassins and casters.

The closest thing to Zed is Talon, and he has a higher skill cap. Even higher, is Riven, who can be tanky and deal a lot of damage, but not good for mid. Yasuo or Talon would be great substitutes for Zed.

Want to do something really intensive? Bard.

It sounds like you want Ekko. Play him like an assassin in midlane, play him like a tank in toplane. Relatively high outplay potential, and a get-out-of-jail-free card.

Yasuo literally fit your description perfectly. He has low cooldowns, and can be taken either mid or top, though top Yasuo requires more experience with him. He can also go bot lane, and I have jungled with him before, though it isn't that recommended. (Max your E first, only noobs and idiots max Q first. It's an unspoken rule). He is one of the hardest champions in game imo, and can be very rewarding. This is all coming from a level 5 mastery with him too. He's definitely worth looking into.

There are many builds you can run on him, including Triforce Yasuo, Statikk Yasuo, and Phantom Dancer Yasuo. Phantom Dancer is kind of feast or famine, whereas Statikk is reliable and deadly, at least for me. Regardless, always go 100% crit on him. His passive doubles his crit chance, so all you need is item 3046 + item 1018 or item 3087 + item 1018. This is his main damage output. If you go Phantom Dancer, I recommend Ravenous Hydra right after, simply for the wave clear that Statikk gives. Phantom Dancer gives you good 1v1 and dueling potential, whereas Statikk is good waveclear, and teamfights to an extent. Regardless, definitely start off with Statikk for a while until you really become comfortable with him. I can't give any tips on TriForce Yasuo since I've never tried it.

I use Warlord's on Yasuo, but Fervor works too. Once again, personal preference. I use summoner 4 and summoner 14 on him, though I suppose summoner 4 and summoner 12 might work.

Hope this helped!

One of my friends is a Yasuo main and he gets kinda mad everytime I play Yasuo...

LeBlanc is IMO, the AP version of zed. Both have multiple jumps, and both are assassins. I would suggest her if you want a new assassin to play.
