Hi,

Since preseason I have come to a conclusion with certain champions. The one that seems the most problematic to me is BY FAR Rengar. Rengar

The kitty has always neen the one-shot type of assassin. When he gets fed, it's only a matter of milliseconds before your screen turns grey. However, the recent changes to the itemisation (ghostblade, trinity and even rapid firecanon, etc) and to the masteries (obviously thunderlord being predominant) our dear cat has just skyrocket.

Being one-shot is really boring. When you dont even have time to zonhya and flash, the game become literally unplayable. This is not a one-time experience. Play a bit and you'll understand.

Like if this wasn't enough, there are even less counter play to a champ that already doesn't have much. When full stuff, it is impossible to get pink wards. What's one of the best thing to do vs rengar? That's right: warding like crazy. Here we have a real problem, it is impossible to get the appropriate answer.

That's not all. Even if you manage to put a pink down, when the kitty wants you, he's gonna get you. The famous ! Above your head. With a ghost blade, you literally have less than 0,75 sec to get away. And I mean very far. I have encountered leblanc player who double dashed ans still got caught. The additional mouvement speed he gets from his necklace and thr ghostblade is insane.

So, here we are with a one-shot assassin with low counter play and insane mobility. Some of you might disagree. There is two possibility:

  1. you see him ult and immediatly start to run
  2. he must be cc before he jumps (otherwise he os the target) this include having vision on him while he is invisible

Does that seems familiar? Once upon a time, khazix Khazix was exactly the same monster as rengar today.

I would like to hear from other players and see what Riot thinks about the state of rengar right now. One last thing, the higher the elo, the higher his winrate is. He is definitly not the easiest champ, but clearly not hard enough.

Best thing you can do.

If Rengar is on the other team. Make sure your jungler and sup help ward Enemy Jungle in your area. and try and counter jungle him as much as possable a slow start and no ganks from Rengar can render him useless late game.

Ya Rengar is strong, I recommend banning him. If he gets through, the strat against a Rengar has always been to group and have good vision of the map.

Theres really not much you can do without a powerful disengage support with quick reflexes. (janna/nami come to mind) He's really obnoxious to deal with if you don't have a team built around countering him.

Become a Syndra main. Take your Janna ult of an E and just ruin his day for playing Rengar. (Then again, I play mostly ARAM, where Rengar is less OP.)

He used to be way stronger. He is all-in type of champion unlike most other assassins, Other assassins can do the same thing, but they also get out later. Rengo eats some stun from Annie etc and dies.

I went up against a Rengar who went toplane and did nothing but hid in the bush early game, used the bolas after he had full ferocity, and bam- I'm dead. I was Jax, by the way. Every time I'd ward, he'd destroy it with the Sweeping Lens. I went 0/8/2 and raged most of the game because I thought it was pretty cheap just hiding in the bush, [slayer-jinx-unamused]

Like you said it's pre-season, let's just wait for the Actual Season 6 beginning before asking for nerf, the only good thing, right now, would be to had more counter play to his ult because all his counter in season 5 are gone. Also pre-season favorite him alot with thunderlords, no true vision on trinkets anymore and more than half of the game are won bellow the 20 minutes mark, which give snowball champion way more power.
