Illaoi Vessel moved to W.

"Hitting a champion or their soul with Harsh Lesson applies a stack of vessel stacking up to 5 times, each stack of vessel lasts 60 seconds (refreshing the debuff*). Killing a tentacle removes a stack of vessel. When the target is at or above 3 stacks of vessel, they will spawn a tentacle every 10 seconds, until they drop below 3 stacks of vessel." Note: her W has a CD of ( 6 / 5.5 / 5 / 4.5 / 4 ) seconds.

Thoughts? Comments?

I personally feel It'd require her to defend her tentacles a little be more if she wanted to vessel bully a target, but that should be fine, considering the large window she has to actually apply the stacks, and walking back into range of her right after you dropped the 3rd stack just means she'd push you right back up to 3.

*was that not clear enough?

It's too large of a change to be implemented, but on paper for the sake of discussion, I find it an interesting idea.

How would it be to large of a change? You'd literally just increase the stacks to 5, move the stack granting from her E to her W, make it grant one stack on hit, then add in a check to see how many stacks they have. If >=3 it'd be the exact same effect it is now.

Sounds interesting, but as DeathBurs7 said, it would take too much work. Also, given that the spirit's maximum duration is 10 seconds (which can be reduced, mind you), you would almost never turn anyone into a vessel, this mechanic would require too much balancing around it to go through.

what are you talking about? If you're in control of the lane (which illaoi generally is despite the vessel mechanic), then when you walk in to CS she jumps to you with her W, and gives you a stack. She then zones you from the tentacles she spawns. Remember she could apply stacks of Vessel either by hitting the target or the soul. The soul isn't suppose to be the primary target used to give them stacks, rather a target to give them their 3rd stack or an extra stack as they run away from a exchange.

If I understand correctly, a vessel stacks are only applied if you hit them with your W, which at rank 1 has 6 second cooldown. And if spirit lasts only 10 seconds, you'll apply 2 stacks max, not getting the vessel, the situation changes at ranks 4 and 5 where you have literally milliseconds to apply that third stack and get the vessel off. But then, they can still kill tentacles, removing one stack, they can attack Illaoi to reduce the spirit's duration. Without cdr/Leap of faith you'll never get a vessel, perhaps you worded something wrong, but the way you presented it, that's how it would play out in the current state.

Again you ignore the fact that you can apply stacks of vessel directly to the enemy champion having never used her E. Like level 1 you could be applying stacks of vessel to the target every 6 seconds. I said "Hitting a champion or their soul", i don't think i can make it any more clear than that.

This is an example of what might happen Level 1, takes W, applies a stack of vessel, 15 seconds later, applies another stack, the enemy singles out one of the tentacles in the lane, dropping back down to 1 stack. 6 seconds later, illoai applies another stack to the enemy bringing them back up to 2. A few moments later, Illoai hits level 2, takes E, pulls out the targets soul, and instantly lands a hit on it with W, bringing them up to 3 stacks, and starting the mini-game(the first tentacle would spawn after 10 seconds). 6 seconds later the enemy never broke the spirit so you hit the spirit with another W, bringing them to a total of 4 vessel stacks.

So yes, you'd probably never get more than 2 stacks of vessel from using W on their spirit. Although you're not restricted to landing E, in order to apply vessel stacks.

Oh, I guess I missed the point where it's not required to hit the guy with E to start applying Vessel stacks. My bad there, sorry.

If that's the case then it changes everything about this whole vessel mechanic, and if that's so, that sounds a lot better than how I understood that previously, heh. Still would be a pain to actually use in the laning phase (teamfights would probably be really messy too) but at least now I can see its purpose, so that Illaoi has her mini-game around her W, involving much more risk rather than relying on a skillshot that doesn't actually punish you for being in a bad position/using it in general.
