His mechanics seem simple, but he is a difficult to play champion at full potential.
For the record, I don't play him, but I know when I'm playing with one who is skilled with him vs one who is not.
His mechanics require precise timing, and I think he's a lot higher skillcap than the majority of champions.

All there is to him and hoping you got a competent team strong enough to lower champions hp bar below 50% so he can come and finish it. And during team fights, he is usually the last to come and fight. There is a reason why Master yi is considered to be a janitor.

This is why my I said downvotes - it's not a popular opinion.
However, the very fact people think he's bad is why I think he's high skillcap. He doesn't have a lot of tools like brainless windwall to block everything that could hurt him - he has a very small window of invuln with his Q that you have to utilize well to not feed on him. It's clear when you're facing a good yi vs a bad one.
There's more to him than right click autoing - you have to have good timing on his Q and W to do well on him and that takes practice.

Ben SwoIo1 votesLol. I mained him last season. Played him because I genuinely enjoyed him and his look. Got bored though. Just auto'd and occasionally used ult / alpha strike. Don't kid yourself, he's not hard to use.

all you need to do is point and click and press Q whenever somebody tries to use a skillshot on you that's about it
you don't even need to build armor penetration, all you need is razor and rageblade then you can just build tank while melting everybody even the tanks that stack armor
