Hunter's Potion. It Exists (And I Have No Idea Why)

item 2032 Seriously, what is this thing? It restores an amount of health and mana that I'll just go ahead and say is "not a lot", but it does it a lot...I guess? It DOES automatically activate when you kill a large monster (a feature I actually forgot about until I decided to make this post), which is neat but most junglers have enough jungle sustain to not need it too much. The most popular champion to build it on is Amumu (which makes a lot of sense; he needs all the help with clears he can get), who builds it in less than 10% of his games, and he's only actually IN 3% of them. Behind him are Hecarim (who I guess could use the mana component) and Evelynn (maybe I'm playing her wrong but after her first clear she's got a pretty safe clear). I have bought this item in the past, mostly for the famous reason of "Well, I have 250 gold I'm not immediately spending, and I already have the refillable..." but I've never seen the stupid thing doing real work. So I ask the Amumu mains (and, I guess, anyone else who would defend this ridiculous item), what is it good for? Would it be too much to ask for a buff? Or a reworked "jungler's potion" that doesn't have to suck just to be allowed to exist?

Yeah it's kinda unnecessary by the OP safe strong meta jungles but it works nicer supporting the fringe ones or the late game ones.

It's not so much the sustain of the potion that's worth the 400g. But by having it it allows you to stay topped off to gank 100% healthy while farming. Or just farm longer. So it pays itself off IMO

It helps my Fizz jungle

I actually use the crap out of these (playing aggressive junglers that clear pretty well) to refill my health bar after a gank attempt or trade with the enemy jungler.

For example, when I play shyvana, I can sacrifice 30-40% of my life bar to get a gank off (or at least force the opponent out of lane) and return to the jungle and rely on my fast and healthy clear speed to sustain back up without any lifesteal. This means I get that much more farm while not needing to back. Hunters potions are also really useful for taking dragon (especially solo). I personally don't see why every jungler that is going to farm a lot of their jungle wouldn't pick up hunters potion. For 250 gold you get 5 potions that constantly refill themselves. Its really good.

It's good on anyone that wants to farm. Diana likes it, Yi likes it, it's useful on anyone who is behind. Why so mad over an item that gives you more sustain lol

It seems like it'd work on Ivern. Offset his health costs from clear in return for getting another potion with each clear.

I used to not buy it as jungle, but then I saw an enemy jg leveling up like mad compared to me and he hardly had any more sustain than I did. So, I looked at what was different between us and saw he had a hunter's potion.

So, I experimented with it in my next game and found it much easier to take camps and remain in jungle for extended periods, earning me a consistent amount of exp.

It isn't a necessary item, but it is an inexpensive investment that pays for itself.

It helps a lot to champions who have awkward clear/sustain unless they use their abilities (which most likely consume a lot of mana) constantly. JarvanIV Evelynn Amumu
