Suggestion to improve itemization FEEL and diversity (AP mage) & (Tank armor)
First mages...
NOTICE! I am not getting into overall power level of AP champions. This is about how their itemization has become stagnant, repetitive, and boring since the mage rework and post nerfs
Size Morellonomicon down. Move power to Defining AP items

Once upon a time for 98% of league's history before the mage rework Morellonomicon was an item that only costed 2350 to 2200 gold. For a few patches it was as low as 2100g and for a few others it was up to 2550g. Morellos also had a big brother that was a big hit in season 2 called Athene's Unholy Grail. But overtime through nerfs Athenes slowlllly faded out to cheaper alternatives: Morellonomicon and Abyssal Sceptar (rip)
Today Morellos is a full item at 2900g. It has an extremely generic profile that works great on basically every mage, even mages that are attracted to other mana items like Rod of Ages or Archangles. Those items were usually more niche but they are super duper niche today with Morellos cannibalizing space for alternatives. In the past at least Rod of Ages and Archangles gradually stacked up power to blow past Morellos in terms of slot efficiency partially thanks to the difference in price. But the reality is CDR is so important for mages it was only favorable in conjunction with major cooldown reduction from runes which are going away! What do?? Do we give Rod of Ages a special bonus at max stacks?!? Seraphs already has something at least.
The raised slot efficiency on Morellonomicon I suspect is also cannibalizing power for other AP item slots which let you better define your playstyle. Let the character defining items speak in terms of power, not "the perfect stat stick." The perfect stat stick IS Morellonomicon. That's pretty much all it is.
Lichbane is also sort of in the similar space challenged by Morellos as a core mana/cdr item for fighter like AP. Lich is still good on the right champs in the right builds. But if you ask me Lich's primary users are over buffed to over compensate Lich's mediocrity. This leaves less chance Lichbane could make its way onto the build of different characters! Maybe it's all s5 Lulu mid's fault, but her waveclear has been nerfed since those days. It's possible indirect AP increases is enough for Lichbane as well.
TANKS. & ARMOR!!!

This one I'm very convinced on and should be heard. Full armor items feel like garbo in comparison to Ninja Tabi. Tabi itself holds too much of the anti AD budget.
The above are all the armor focused "full tank" items.
To me, it feels like, the current ideal life of a tank is to build Ninja Tabis for anti AD needs then round off the other statistics: HP/MR/maybe dmg. You wanna ride out those Tabis as long as possible. If the enemy ADC gets accelerated you mutter curses because you know you soon have to shell out huge gold for items that will have a short lifespan of fully effective protection. One full armor item isn't meant to be enough but you're now on the chain of constantly building armor for limited game changing effects. (except the powerful righteous glory active. op)
Major armor items should feel better. Particularly those that are "left behind" at the moment. I actually question sunfire changes in the tank rework. CDR/mana items can contend with it in waveclear and sunfire never held too much relevance to end game.
Ninja Tabi are too perfect a rush versus melee AD. What other armor item contends with Ninja Tabi as a choice in lane? Before the recent introduction of Bramble Vest nothing at all. I say it's better than bramble vest even which is said to be an OP item. Tabis are a perfect and raw stat stick of mobility and defense. 45 movement speed is MAJOR VERSUS MELEE and in general, and 30 armor with 10% AA reduction is a major effective life boost. Tanks need more interesting armor laning items to bring them through laning phase so Ninja Tabis can be a smaller part of the AD mitigation picture so full armor items can shine more.
I'm tired of rushing Tabis to nullify my lane opponent. Tired of having to buy underwhelming complete armor items.
Fold
power to high priced armor items
You could argue tabi's are for fighters too. But fighters need help anyways.
