Reminder for Riot that Autofill in Rank was a step backwards

Honestly, autofill in normal drafts is whatever. The games don't affect your rank, it speeds up queue times, and it kind of forces situations for players to grow/learn new things they don't normally try.

But in RANK, its not proven to be effective at improvement let alone desirable. I've given many examples to similar posts of the same complaints, adding my own anecdotes to the many. I know some people blame not climbing on auto-fill, but I really don't think thats the problem. If you really want to climb you can adopt a few more roles, practice them and still get passed it.

However, we can all agree that it causes fights, and makes rank less fun, less consistent. Less mature players will continuously dodge their fill rounds, or troll them and try to hold them hostage so they don't have to dodge themselves. When I play rank, its not uncommon that ill be tossed out of 5 or 6 queues just to be filled. It gets more frustrating when I finish a fill game just to be tossed back in after a few more queue dodges. Then there's the imbalance of teams that get one auto-fill when the other doesn't, and in rank where people are going try hard with champs its a handicap. Rank is about consistency; autofill takes away from consistency and gives your allies more reason to hate each other. Not to mention, I don't want "free wins" because of the same thing. I want the competition, I want the balance, and I think that the playerbase overall is willing to wait longer to get in game to guarantee that consistency.

Besides, it doesn't fix queue times if 4 or 5 queues are dodged in a row, and it doesn't feel satisfying when you wait all that time to get in a game YOU KNOW IS SCREWED BEFORE IT STARTS. Autofill saps motivation from a lot of players to even try, and this further degrades the rank experience.

Good theory, terrible application, like communism lol

I'd have to agree. The common boards hive mind will downvote any post about autofill and pull the "play every role hurr durr" line. I would imagine that matches being compromised in champion select is not progressive for the game whatsoever. This is something that other people disagree with. My stance is know what you aren't good at is a strength in itself and i'm not sure why you would have to be forced into a role you don't excel at in a ranked match. As a support main, it really doesn't matter to me that much but if I want to play 5 matches in mid lane after 50 as support, I should damn well be entitled to it.

The real everyone wins answer here is the option to turn off autofill in exchange for longer queue times. Which with this size playerbase really shouldn't be that much of an issue. It's 2017 folks, let's not reference the "remember what happened last time they did that" because that was a long time ago.

That is all.
