Yas got nerfs and is still popular. Nothing wrong with that

Sorin Alucard··13 votes·1,232 views

I see so many people still demanding nerfs/reworks/removal of abilities/passives on Yasuo.

Why?

I really don't see your justification past not liking his popularity. Legitimate discussion welcomed

Edit: Ty for all the comments.

Mostly I see those who have the opinion of his kit being just "too much" and others who find him annoying

All of the points brought up about his weaknesses, how to expose them and control them, I feel are stronger because

  1. Played enough of him to know his weaknesses myself
  2. All popular champs are ones you should look into and learn more about especially if you dont play them yourself
  3. There will always be a group of top champions that have potential carry factors.

More discussion encouraged

While I think the amount of Yasuo complaining on this board is excessive, especially after his nerfs, it would be wrong to say that he isn't still strong. Having an above positive winrate despite being one of the most popular champions in the game, with supposedly one of the highest skill floors, is a sign that Yasuo is still well above average in power level.

Vistha Kai3 votes

Think of how stupid average League player is and realize half of them are stupider than that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rh6qqsmxNs

That's the majority of people who complain about Yasuo. They refuse to acknowledge his strengths and weaknesses, instead prefer to ban him, rather than abusing the fact of how easy it is to take advantage of Yasuo to the point where he's completely useless.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

ok so who do you ban if its not yasou ? soraka?

Dabrick014 votes

Yes. Soraka is a good ban.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

so banning a champ that has no cc, no damage, is better?

Keti1 votes

Yes

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

how so?

Because she has a 1-button press ability that requires no aiming that heals all of her teammates cross-map.

She also has poke on a really low cooldown, a heal on a low cooldown, a silence that can shut down any power a spellcaster carry would have, and not to mention the fact that her silence snares after a short duration, and her Q slows.

She's a walking ambulance with that passive of hers that gives her some 200 to 300 movement speed when walking towards an ally who's low, and can heal them for an absolute fuck ton of health.

You're telling me you want a cross-map ambulance instead of a champion that can be completely useless if you just play it right? Soraka can still be useful to her team regardless of if she's 0/50, whereas all Yasuo provides to a teamfight is his ult which he may or may not land. If he does land it, just fucking CC him and kill him.

I'd much rather go against a Yasuo than Soraka any day, and this is coming from a Yasuo main with over 300k on him. It takes time to get over ignorance but once you've really tried learning a thing or two about a champion, you quickly realize how easily their weaknesses can be abused.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo2 votes

so a yasuo main is advocating that soraka is worst for the game then yasuo... hmm bias at all ?

but Karthus has a global ult that all he has to do is press R and can kill people even after he is dead.

Anivia, Gangplank, Nidalee, Zac, Ekko, Darius, Irelia, Soraka, Kog. Out of all those champions I'd rather play against Yasuo because of how hilariously easy he is to camp and shut down.

but most people dont do that. i play a game top lane where i got zero ganks vs a yasou and this was pre bug fix

Chlululu1 votes

i personally feel that yasuos skill level is quite low, being that he has 2 csing tools and is fairly basic but is quite hard to play well

G4LLOWSC4L1BR4TR7 votes

The reason people want things removed isn't necessarily that he's good so much as he's unreasonably frustrating to play against. He's resistant to poke due to his shield, he can block massively important skillshots, and can dodge any one ability in a number of different directions with his dash. Even if he was absolutely terrible playing against him would be awful because his kit is entirely focused on not letting his opponents do the things that they play the game for.

It's not that he's overpowered, he's just miserable to play against.

TequilaZombie2 votes

He just forces you to play around him and change a bit your playstyle.

He gets shat uppon by most melee champions in lane, who all have inherently better stats. He has similar stats to immobile adcs. Anyone can all in him early game.

He can be poked down by most ranged characters. AA once to remove the shield and poke him down. People act as if his shield was a permanent thing. Yes, his wall will negate some of the ranged champ poke, but it has a 20 second CD. Most poke champions have their main ability up every 3-8 seconds. Most burst champions have their full combo up in about 10-15 seconds. It's possible to poke him down in lane with almost any champion.

The problem with him is that his crap stats are balanced with a shit load of outplay potential and late game power.

Blåbæret3 votes

100% crit bonus = crap stats. Yep guys.

Yasuo's one of the most poke resistant champs in this game.

TequilaZombie1 votes

I'm talking about base stats. To reach 100% crit chance Yasuo usually needs over 5k gold. There is plenty of time to shut him down before that.

Blåbæret1 votes

Yeah, he needs **HALF **the gold of that every other champs needs. The moment he gets a crit item he already has gained a significant stat advantage. What do you mean shut him down? 5k gold doesn't take long to get even if you're feeding.

TequilaZombie1 votes

Players usually end the game in the 20k gold max. It takes Yasuo about 25% of the game to get to that level. Yes, he has a HUGE power spike and that's extremely annoying, but he can be shut down in the first quarter of the game by most champions when played correctly.

Hyperiön2 votes

He has everything you want in a champion.

Damage, Super Mobility, and a Windwall that blocks out like 90% of projectiles. And he gets a free shield for like 500 health every 15 seconds after it scales.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo3 votes

plus 100 % crit in two items. cc, an ult that makes him untargetable , armor pen on his ult for free.

Vistha Kai3 votes

an ult that makes him untargetable

What the fuck. Ha ha.

Your bias is so strong, you don't even know what Yasuo does.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

so when you are hit by his ult how do u attack him?

so when you are hit by his ult how do u attack him?

Thats like saying leona is invulnerable when she stund you, thats not how it works. I hate yasuo, but you're just wrong.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

so during his ult when he is doing all the damage with his 100% crit build in two items and his 50% armor pen how do you target him and attack him...

Spicy Rice4 votes

You don't attack him because you are cc'ed.

Your team however can literally aim skills or right click and do damage

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

ok but in a team fight does yasou just ult one player or multiple players?

JackMcSnipeyz4 votes

Dude, you're wrong, he isnt invulnerable, if you do any DOT damage to him he still bleeds, just because you're stunned by him doesnt mean he's INVULNERABLE it just means you got disabled. End of story

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

please show me where i used the term " invulnerable "

JackMcSnipeyz4 votes

Sorry, untargetable - still wrong tho, he isnt untargetable.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

so when he ult you you can cc him and damage him while you are cced by his ult?

Spicy Rice4 votes

Are you high? Can ANYONE do ANYTHING while they are cced? no.

Based on your statements, you are either a young child who doesn't understand how the game works, or you are an idiot who refuses to take back what he/she said. Possibly both

Vistha Kai2 votes

Ok, so how do you attack Malphite when he ults you? How do you attack Amumu when he ults you? Orianna? Sejuani?

That's the most idiotic complaint I've heard about Yasuo today.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

but you can attack and disrupt other champs when they ult

Vistha Kai2 votes

OK. Think of it this way.

Malphite dashes to you - you can't do absolutely nothing to Malphite when he is dashing. Then hits you dealing damage and knocking you up for exactly 1.5 second. He's then free to do whatever the hell he wants.

Yasuo ults you and he appears next to you and suspends you in air for 1.0 second. He can't do anything durning that time and, the best part, you can use QSS yourself or have somebody use Mikael's Crucible on you, not only negating the CC, but also the damage, while he's still up in the air. Then you both land and you get damaged from the ult. Now you are both able to do whatever the hell you want.

If this is still too much for you to comprehend... well. There is no hope for you.

Dabrick017 votes

There are a few tips that people already know about facing a Yasuo; poke his shield off with autos, he's weakest right after his tornado is gone, and he's weak to ganks. I'd like to go into more detail.

The key to beating a Yasuo in lane is proper minion management, and proper management is different depending on whether you're a ranged or melee champion. As a ranged champion, you want to keep the wave in 1 of 2 places depending on Yasuo's health relative to yours. If Yasuo is ahead or even, you want to keep the wave frozen a bit outside of your own tower, so that he has to go into tower range to order to hit you. You can basically do whatever you want to him if the wave is in this spot because you can simply retreat into tower range if he tries to go onto you. However, if you're ahead of him in health, you want to start a slow push, so you can poke him whenever he tries to CS and you'll have a buffer of minion support if he tries to all in you. In this case, he can't do much either.

For a melee champion, you want to slow push pretty much all the time. Yasuo is extremely vulnerable to being all inned by melee champions when he's trying to CS, and a good Yasuo will try to do a slow push of his own to discourage his opponent from attacking him. One important thing to understand is that while enemy minions are oftentimes Yasuo's best friends since he uses them to dash, they are also one of his biggest weaknesses since he's required to tank them in order to trade. If you can bait him into tanking a lot of minions with some kind of defensive ability like an ori shield, you can very easily come out ahead in trades, provided you don't panic, keep autoing, and hit some extra free damage on him when he tries to get out.

Generally speaking, a Yasuo will always want the wave in 1 of 2 places. He either wants a slight minion advantage on his side so he can get free opportunities to poke with Q, but not so many more minions that the wave gets frozen outside the enemy tower. A good Yasuo will bait you into hitting minions with AOE abilities to push the wave back towards him if it starts to get too close to tower, allowing him to be aggressive again. The other position is for when Yasuo has a lead on his opponent; he will want to freeze outside of his tower, leaving a long trail of minions to dash through so he can all in you if you try to walk up to CS. The key to beating Yasuo is to keep the wave where you want it to be rather than the way he wants it to be, or there's not a whole lot you can do as a lot of champions.

Other general tips for beating Yasuo include: Ask for ganks, an aggressive Yasuo player is very easy to bait and kill if he isn't strong enough to 1v2 already. Take exhaust as a combat summoner if your kill pressure on him is low, it’s a great way to neutralize his aggression in lane as well as neuter him in teamfights. If Yasuo misses his tornado, that is the time to be aggressive. His Q is on CD, he has no CC for a while, and his ult, by extension, is unavailable. And if Yasuo gets too aggressive in lane and messes up when trying to trade, all in him right then and there. If you get a lead against Yasuo, most champions will be able to zone him out heavily since he's a squishy melee only champion with no escape and no natural sustain.

Vistha Kai4 votes

Don't waste your time. Regardless of how logical and idiot-proof your explanations are going to be, they will still refuse to acknowledge any of them.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

and people still want to refuse that yasou kit is slightly over powered still and needs a tuning

Vistha Kai1 votes

Yeah, we should remove his untargetability. It's so OP.

Would you kindly educate yourself, before talking to me?

Dabrick012 votes

Yep, his windwall will still block all your team's ults if they are stupid enough to unload them all onto Yas. People lose a game vs a good Yas and they bitch on the board.

Vistha Kai1 votes

It's true for every champion really. You can't play the same exact way, expecting to win against different champions.

For example you should time, spread out the CC for it to not overlap, so you get the most out of it. How is it any different from timing your ults to not get it all blocked by Windwall or Unbreakable - which is a much bigger offender than Windwall anyway, but people brush it off "because he's a tank"?

It happens to me sometimes, that I forget Yasuo had Windwall up and I throw a whole combo on him, but I don't come to Boards with "Fuck this champ" kind of threads, because that was my mistake.

Don't blame the game, blame the player.
