need a solid top champion! help me!
Hey i main 
but sometimes he is taken/banned.
Need a solid top laner with high skill cap that can solo carry games like Captain Gangplank can.
Any suggestions?

You want a high skillcap? This guy's got it. A good Aatrox can quite literally 1v5 and come out on top, while 95% of them can't even 1v1.
Higher skillcap than most champs, but easy to counter. Can carry games if you're good enough on her.
Considered a high skillcap, very versatile, safe laning phase. Can carry games easily (can also go ADC).
Not exactly high skillcap, but can melt squishies and tanks alike and carry pretty hard.

One of the hardest champs to actually do well with, since he's so reliant on positioning and micro play, but can carry teams relatively easy once you get the hang of it.
Not a high skillcap, but this guy is a horrifying top laner. Can carry teams and literally remove allies from the fire if they don't listen.
Also not a high skillcap, but he can carry pretty easily if you get ahead and run the proper build.
This guy... This guy is one of my favorite champs in the game. You get 1-2 kills (or just farm well and buy an item when you back)... no one can stop you. You get up close to someone and they just die. He can also jungle relatively well, and I've had success as a support too.
Cho'gath. Abuse him while you can.

Why not wait for the new Urgot and see how he works for your tastes? He's also counter to Kayn.
idk about solo carry but braindead waveclear tanks are pretty great, been playing grag and galio top and most of the time you are free to roam and do whatever because you can push the wave with one ability without even worrying about the enemy
