The reimbursement is super vague around the rune update next season. . . I don't want to sink another 20k ip into runes if I'm not going to get much out if it. Riot, you don't have to be specific, just give us some kinda, "Hey, maybe hold on buying runes for now." or "Don't worry about it! You're fine to buy any runes you want without fear of a suddenly obliterated return on value :)"
If it doesn't bother you, I'd consider just filling things in with the T2 runes where possible in order to limit your investment at this point. Unless you're a jungle main, in which case a good rune page is a big deal.
It'll be interesting to see what they choose to do for compensation on runes. For people in your shoes, you would probably love to have a full refund of any IP you spent on runes when the system changes. On the other hand, I've been around a while. I'd guess I have 200k worth of runes and extra pages (pretty much have any runes I would ever need). And I'm sitting on some 50k IP with nothing to use it on. A full IP refund on all my runes would be entirely pointless for me, so I would hope there's something else, too. Maybe they'll have a few tiers based on how much IP you've put into runes.

Save your IP, buy tier 2 Runes they're 1 IP each and should hold up until the revamp.
When people are vague it's usually because they know you won't like the full answer. Prepare for the worst and save the ip.
On the smurf I'm leveling, I've just bought all Tier 2 runes. Not going to waste time buying tier 3.
Save the IP. You can always climb next year.

well their official stance is "buy what you want and trust you'll be compensated well" its just some folks dunno what. I think its being left vague to specifically prevent abuse so im finishing the 2 "basic bitch" rune pages i have with tier 3 runes then im not doing anymore.
Are you Gold Tier or above? Yes: Save the IP. No: Continue... Can you climb without said runes? Yes: Save the IP. No: Buy the damn things.

if u want to play ranked.. finish it... if your not playing ranked... keep the t2 if want more champs
the runes WILL be helpful, there is no question about that. but if your not playing ranked and you have MOST of the page completed.. the remaining t2 runes should work
Yeah been wanting to get maximum mana runes to play Ryze or maybe some level 3 flat AD runes for like Garen and maybe Kindred(not sure if new Kindred wants flat AD runes anymore or not).
I'm just using T2 runes. Knowing Riot the reimbursement will be a key fragment and blue essence. What an absolutely trash system, that is playing at a distinctive disadvantage because I want to buy a few champs (newer account) than runes. I'm surprised it's being changed. Too bad the new runes look even stupider, even if they're accessible.
If you plan on climbing you should buy those runes, otherwise you're playing at a disadvantage.
If you're already comfortable with your champion pool, go ahead and get the runes.
