Looking for a secondary support

Wilbor··5 votes·849 views

Hey guys, I use janna alot in ranked, and I really like her mid to late game when she can just win tf with her peeling knockyps and slows. I need a secondary support champ tho, and I'm looking for someone like janna that has a very big impact during the mid to late games in terms of keeping the team alive. I know soraka is the obvious choice, but I just find her a little bit boring to play compared to jann (Janna can play really aggressive).

any recommandations? ^^

Karma - Karma - While she lacks the sheer healing power of Janna, her shield and her Mantra Shield (R-E) can turn a fight at nearly any point in the game. On top of that, she can actually hit you with some steak on it, which is something Janna can't do.

Lulu - Lulu - She has a very unique kit designed to save lives. Her Ultimate is awesome in team fights (+ health, shield, and knockup enemies around target). She also has a polymorph and can deal damage reasonably well.

Sona - Sona - For someone who doesn't speak, she makes a lot of noise. Her W is a heal/shield and her E is one of the better movement speed steroids in League. Did I mention that she can really hurt you?

Soraka - Soraka - Not much for shielding, but she is the quintessential healer on the Rift. There is a reason people hate her power.

Thresh - Thresh - He can't heal, but his W is not only a shield, but a lifeline. He is more of a playmaker than those above, and is also much more mechanically difficult, but he can do a lot of work in the right hands.

Taric is the weird transitional tank-traditional support middle child, I'd go for him to help you branch into tank supports too.

I do play taric ^^ I'm lvl 6 on him actually, he is good can't see he isnt, but his q feel so useless, it makes me upset XD

Took me a awhile took get the hang of it, but letting Taric stack Q charges before engaging can help, then it resets cooldown with your autos and you can chain heal while dealing damage. I'll try to work a Sheenitem 3057 in the build somewhere if I can.

item 3057 is indeed good I just find it quite difficult to find room for it item 3190 item 3107 item 3401 item 3109 so many good items but so little gold and inventory space

Part of the problem with item 3057 is that then you are even more reliant on your passive and it hurts even more if you aren't in range to auto attack something for the passive procs (though of course it probably won't be difficult to get in range of divers and other melee champions who are likely to dive into your team)

See here... what Taric Q does is... increase ally resistances with Windspeakers and lower the cooldown of other abilties and deal some damage (if you are in range to proc the passive) Oh and some healing too but that doesn't really do much most of the time

Nami is my backup when Janna is taken/banned.

I actually quite liked playing an aggressive soraka when I was earning my mastery on her though. I feel like raka is probably more aggressive than Janna really, since she can be pretty relentless if she lands her Q's since she'll get health back. Janna needs to be a bit more reserved since she has a shield rather than sustain, so she'll get whittled down in prolonged trades.

Karma, lulu, and sona. Free damage+peel+shield+ms

Janna and Nami are my favorite supports. Nami is good throughout with her kit being incredibly versatile. She has heals that damage enemies, she has an engage/disengage (q), she gives her adc/fighter more damage, and ulti can help them catch a team or run away if need be.

I almost always go one of those 2 as supports when I play the support role.

There is also Nami, who has a heal, knock-up, empower, and a stun.

TahmKench can literally eat his allies with his W so that they can't be damaged or targeted in the case that someone jumps on them (e.x. an assassin jumping on the ADC). Not to mention that he can also eat enemies and take them out of teamfights, and peel quite well with his Q. He builds full tank and hard counters burst (his E gives a shield based on the health he loses, if he choses to), yet still does good amounts of magic damage.

He's also great top lane (he can outtrade about half of the top lane roster), which is where I prefer to play him.

You could pick up a tank support? Most of them can play quite aggressive or peel with their CC and they are often pretty good in teamfights with their AoE CC Taric - garbage tier laning phase most of the time but his ult can be absurdly powerful mid to late game Nautilus - pretty good all around Alistar - could be a good alternative to Janna with his Q or W being useful for stopping dashes (like Janna Q or R) but he can also of course go aggressive with W + Q (or flash Q + W)

Also Soraka can go pretty aggressive... since her Q deals a decent amount of damage and is pretty cheap in mana which means she can harass a lot with it (at least early game)

I would raccomend you Karma Lulu Nami and Sona. If you don't want to play Sona just play Nami. Sona is a strong mid to late game champ but Nami is still a better version of her for some reasons (has safer poke, bigger ult, can engage/disengage before level 6, bigger heals ecc), you can still play Sona, she's fun and really strong in teamfights.

Nami can be a good choice, however, be careful of Nami's mana cost because her w, if maxed first, will cost up to 130 mana at last rank which is huge considering Nami's mana pool is small.

But if you are really looking for someone who has a lot of impact late game, Bard is your guy. Be careful however, because Bard is kinda like a Nasus at bot lane: very weak early on and needs something specific in other to be useful (chimes). But he's really fun to play, quite difficult to get use too the first time.

Is Bard weak early? He has one of the best level 1s.

Nymzo1 votes

Depends of match up actually, but I always start w anyway so forget about level 1.

But yes, he is weak early game compare to his late game but at least you don't have to farm to actually be useful.

Bard is weak early game, but scales decently enough into mid-game, and does alright during late-game. Starting Q level 1 can help you: A: Stun the jungler's starting camp and deal more damage to it. B: Hide in the bush closer to the enemy turret, and then Q-AA the ADC. This gets off Thunderlord's and your Spellthief's Edge, giving you gold and damage.

I'd recommend Nami . She has a fairly similar playstyle and build to Janna, but she can be a lot more aggressive and make more plays if you are good at landing her Q. Pretty fun IMO, and strong in the current meta. Her peel is weaker than Janna's but it's usually good enough unless they have a very fed assassin who can burst your adc in half a second. Her heal is quite strong if you manage to get some AP going.

If you are just looking for someone who can keep your team alive mid/late Taric is the best choice as his ult is the ultimate "Team can't die" tool. He also has an AOE heal on Q, a shield on W, and an aoe stun. That said, his laning phase is weaker than nami's is, as he is melee.

Though I main Karma and think all support players should try her out, someone that's a tad bit less aggressive and more like Janna would be Lulu! You might not be able to deal with her mana costs though; I sure can't! But gameplay-wise, Lulu is incredibly fun, and she does a wonderful job at saving teammates. I would stand to argue that she could even use some buffs on the ranges of her W and E abilities, and they frankly feel kind of strange, but certainly still help your teammates quite a lot. She can even use her W to speed up allies significantly, like how Janna makes people move faster with her passive.
