Why can Anivia detonate her Q early but Aurellion sol can't?

Its almost the exact same concept except for some reason its okay on one and not okay on the other.

Its almost as if they are different champs with different strengths and weaknesses.

Cast it, and then walk away from it.

The two abilities have the exact same mechanism allowing you to detonate early. I don't know where you picked up the idea that Starsurge could not be reactivated at will, but it is incorrect.

Quote from the official champion reveal:

Aurelion Sol fires the core of a newborn star in a target direction that explodes—dealing damage and stunning all nearby enemies—upon reactivation or once it travels beyond his stars’ maximum orbital range. Aurelion Sol can travel alongside Starsurge, and by keeping it close he’ll nurture it, growing it in size so that it damages and stuns a wider area when it explodes.

And a second quote, this one from the tooltip, as observed just minutes ago in a custom game:

First Press: Aurelion Sol creates a new stellar core, which grows over time and grants him 10% Movement Speed. The core will detonate when it reaches his Outer Limit, applying 70 (+0) magic damage and a 1 second stun. Second Press: Detonate the core early.

**EDIT** -- Reorganized and rephrased due to a choice of words that could be misconstrued as an insult.

Sol was designed as a champion who accels at fighting mid - long range.

He is intended to be super weak against people right ontop of him

His ult is made for peeling, his Q for engage / disengage as long as they arent ontop of you

You should learn to position as Sol better, make more use of his W + passive, and learn than once people are on you, you are in trouble if you havent saved proper stuff to handle those situations.

Stop over extending, stop running out for that 1 last minion, its 100% your play style, and nothing wrong with his mechanics

Because Riot doesn't want you to get a kill on Anivia in lane, ever.
