Please Rito let me use my IP to reward my fellow players!

I would be more than happy to spend my IP on skin boosts for events or to buy other players a champion (If they were friendly and were good sports) or buy them some rune pages or runes or whatever. As it stands now i literally just play and accumulate IP and then have it sit there and accumulate more because there is nothing for me to spend it on.

I have been making posts like this for awhile now and i know not everybody has been playing as long or had the good fortune to get every champ /runepage/runes but as one of the few (Many?) players who does happen to own all that it would be nice if i could turn around and use some of my accumulated in game wealth to reward other players for a change instead of waiting for you guys to release a champ and then buying it and then repeateing the process over.

Hell you guys don't even release summoner icons or ward skins for IP thats RP also.

Seriously Rito as a long time player of this game (been around since beta) Let me use my IP in a good constructive way to reward other players who show good sportsmanship and friendly attitudes with a reward of a champion bought with my IP or some such thing.

Its very simple. Make it a one time IP gift per person after a match and make it either a champion or a rune page etc.

That way people can't abuse it.

I never said allow me to give IP to people i said allow me to USE MY IP to gift a champion/runepage etc to other players.

Stop with this giving people my IP bullshit i am going to use my IP to reward other players.

i feel the best option would allow skin boosts to be bought with IP. (I'm thinking of a solution that wouldn't cut into Riot's profits)

allow skin boosts on any game mode, but remove the IP bonus from the skin boost. This way, if anything, Riot's profits could be slightly increased by sparking someone's interest in some skin they were able to temporarily use. In addition, the removal of the extra IP from the boost wouldn't cut into potential champion/rune/rune page sales which would have otherwise been purchased with RP.

lastly, the little skin boost is a nice pre-game boon and generates good feelings among teammates before the game even begins

Seriously i was kinda excited for skin boosts until they released them with RP.

I think the only thing that hasn't been a champion/runes/rune pages that hasn't costed IP was i think at max 2 ward skins and 2 summoner icons in total. Everything else has been in RP.

They do need to find ways to make IP more useful for the people who have everything already. I have all the champions already, all 20 rune pages and the only thing I'm "missing" is the weak/useless runes that I wouldn't even use...but just want it to own everything that you could with IP.

Allowing people to gift champions to other people with IP would be a nice option to have a way to use IP and help your friends or just random people, and could result in the community to be nicer to each other (doubt that...honestly) since they'll never know if they have IP that they can waste on you. However, other than it could result in loss of profits to allow gifting champions with IP, I could see it being a problem with all the people making smurfs and using their main to gift their alts all the champions they want.

Though I think allowing people the option to gift runes/rune pages to friends with IP could be fine and I feel that is a good idea and wouldn't even hurt riot's profit. Also being able to buy the skin boost (was that what it was called?) in an aram/featured mode with IP would be another option, and I would love to do that as well. Or another option I wouldn't mind would be to just allow us to straight up give our IP to friends. If you want to add a cap to the amount of IP you could give in a week/month etc, and maybe have the cap increase based on how long they have been on your friends list (to make it actually only work on "friends" and not alts, or people you just met) I'm sure that wouldn't be a terrible trade off.

I play because the game is fun. I hope that Riot never listens to these comments. I don't want a MMO situation where time invested = rewards = fun.

Time invested already does get you rewards though. Champions, runes and rune pages cost a lot of IP to collect every single one of them. You can have just as much fun with a small champion pool though. All we're asking for is some additional things to use that IP for. Many of his suggestions involve using the IP to help out other players, which has the opposite effect of what you're implying.

Doesn't look like sarcasm to me, especially considering the fact comments like this are very common in regards to mmos. People for some reason always get upset when someone has more free time than they do to play games and get ahead of them. I even played one recently that's in open beta that has a catch up system for new players while also capping hard core players so they don't get ahead of people with less time.

That perspective never crossed my mind, not even something I ever considered. I think it's dumb on a person's part to play any mmo and not expect to grind.

If you want pure skill games, where time invested is irrelevant, then go pick up a console fighter like Street Fighter or Tekken (my 2 favorites). Go practice mode for 10 hours, memorize your character, play against the cpu on the hardest difficulty setting to perfect your defensive timing (cpu doesn't drop combos), then dive into rank and start owning pros from your debut match.

But never in an mmo should a new player join the game and be able to dive into max level raids with people who have 200+ hours of game time.

As for League of Legends, I do think the mastery points should be available initially, but that's it.

The game allows you to be competitive without spending a single dollar, which is nice, but I certainly guess RIOT makes money on champions bought with RP. That immediately takes out the ability to gift other players with champions or rune pages. However, runes are one of the few things that can only be purchase with IP (I assume it hasn't changed, haven't bought a rune in awhile). It would be interesting if they allowed the gifting of a maximum of three runes to players every week. That is the best thing I could come up with lol

It always bothered me about summoner Icons and ward skins cost RP considering alot of people were interested in them costing IP and said they would gladly spend IP on them.

As it stands right now i could buy every single champ that Riot releases this year and still have enough IP to purchase more next year. There is absolutely zero for me to spend IP on. Even the skin boosts which aren't permanent cost RP. I would more than gladly blow my IP on skin boosts or summoner icons or ward skins or even another champion for players that showed friendly and sportsman like behavior. As it currently stands however once you own all the champs and runes you need there IP becomes useless and you discover that there is nothing else except a champion every now and then or the very VERY rare summoner icon they release for IP.

Nah, because Riot gets no money from you gifting IP. In fact, they may lose money if said player would have purchased what you gifted. Moreover, there would be more bots farming IP if that were the case. There's no way Riot would ever shoot themselves in the foot by lowering potential profits. Why do you think we can't edit rune pages in the lobby or even have them at all? Why is this leveling system so slow without a boost? I could go on and on...

I think it'd be cool if something like the Penguin icon thing became permanent. Spend 100 IP-> Give someone else an IP boost.

I would be more than willing to spend IP to give someone else an IP boost. I would be helping my fellow players in a positive way and making it a bit easier for them to reach their champion goal or rune goal etc.

Am I the only one who got a survey from Riot about using IP for other in game content? It still seems to be in very early stages......but I think Riot is working on new ways for Summoners to utilize their IP ( outside of buying champs/runes/rune pages/etc).

Just out of curiosity.........what would you guys like to see implemented to help Summoners like the OP with their massive IP pool?

I have been getting surveys like that.

I remember when they sent out the ward skin survey and i can GUARANTEE YOU that people chose the option for them to cost IP.

They released 2 ward skins for IP at release and every thing else has been RP.

For a long time now i have made several posts about wanting to have something to spend my IP on and wanting to spend it on other players or exhanging it for RP or some such thing but at the top end where some of us are who own everything there is zero to spend our IP on. Sure i can get a name change but i like my name. Sure i can get runes but i have ALL the runes i will ever need.

Can't buy summoner icons with IP Can't buy ward skins with IP. Can't gift people with IP. Can't reward people with IP.

Once you own all the stuff you quickly find out that there isn't much that IP will get you and everytjhing from that point on changes from IP to dollar signs.

I think there is room for improvement in this area and I believe they are working on ways to fix this for summoners with massive IP pools. I have no idea if this is even going to happen.....but mine was very specific about chromas and whether or not they should be available for purchase via IP.

The only issue with this is it would be abused by the already present black market on a massive massive sales scale( looking at you Riot E-Commerce team). Not all botted accounts are caught right away. Everyone knows this, why? Well for one, everyone know a Black Market of buying LoL botted accounts exist. People would bot the shit out of this, get 1million IP easily. Then transfer all the IP on their main account. People would just set up multiple botted accounts until one slips through the cracks and literally cheat the game out of everything.

At least this way, they can ban those accounts without them having any real advantage to transfering anything useful from botted accounts to main accounts.

I love the idea but I can see it being incredibly abused by the black market in League

I mean, I don't want to be a negative nancy here, but this would never happen. The gaming industry has honestly just become "how much longer can we milk this for money before making something new" and i don't see that happening.

Luckily League is so enticing and just overall amazing, but it feels like the company behind it no longer is.

But with RITOS current track record i have a feeling they are going to cost RP as well. I am hoping for IP but tbh i would rather be able to reward fellow players with a champion with my earned IP. People who generally enjoy this game and who make it fun for others or teach others and are friendly deserve something better than a pat on the back. With my IP i could use it to further encourage that kind of behavior and maybe they will go into their next game even more determined to just make it more fun for other people.

I still need 50ish champs. Yet I have 60,000 ip haha. I never spend it cause I feel like I have all the fun champions or the ones I like. Still need all those runes and pages I guess

I think i have around 1800-1900 normal matches and maybe 1400-1600 ranked matches.

I have been playing for a long time.

Before season 1 hit i played every single day multiple matches a day.

All i did was go to work come home spend time with my girl and then play league and repeat. I did go out with friends a few times and spent time with family during holidays.

I also set aside always had 10-20 bucks set aside just in case there was a skin or something i wanted or a champion i really wanted to try. Most of my champs were bought with IP but there were some i bought with RP in their bundles if i liked their skins (Khazix for example and Garen). I think i owned every single champ before season 2 hit and that was pretty much just from playing alot.

You will get there man just remember in the beginning to play for fun and get competitive later on once you have truly expanded your roster and understand every champion down to the core. (P.S Trundle is pretty amazing right now and should not be looked over).

There aren't a lot of people with disposable IP who are also generous.

There are, however, a lot of botters that are willing to farm IP just to sell them.

Honestly i have been playing this game since its beta and i have only ever encountered maybe 2-3 botters at max and that was only in Dominion.

Also you are right there definitely are not alot of people with Disposable IP like myself but i am sure that players who really enjoyed playing with a player wouldn't mind gifting a champ with IP if the player was really friendly.

You don't see them because IP can't be traded that they are required to bot with their main account.

Now if IP can be traded, they will bot with a 'mule' to gift IP back to their main, totally nullify the risk of ban. Don't even get me started on the amount of future hack and phishing to steal people IP.

And no, I'm having 50k IP and frequently gift friends with skin, but will not to strangers my IP. You need to be rich AND generous. The combination is very rare.

I had to edit my OP because people like you keep assuming I mean to just feed my IP directly to other players. Also congrats on 50k IP.

I have 298k and nothing to spend it on not even on friends.

How is it different?

Bot 48 hrs -> gather 6300 IP -> gift the main account runes/page/champion -> if banned, start another account -> restart.

Because if the bot is banned and they see that the bot gifted a champion to an account then they are going to investigate the account thats receiving the goods from the bot.

Thats literally linking yourself to a bot and unless your a moron then you wont implicate yourself like that.

The reason this isn't a thing is because right now there is zero value for a hacker to target league accounts since the accounts themselves can be recovered and most people don't keep any real rp of value around on their account and just add it when they need to buy something. If people could gift each other with ip, all accounts would suddenly become viable targets for hackers. Right now league is almost immune to this strictly because the lack of ip gifting makes getting a hold of someones account for only a few days not worth the effort.

There is a way around this a bit though, if you were able to mystery gift players you were matched with in post game chat using ip then there would be no way for a hacker to drain the account in a useful way and so accounts wouldn't become a target. This would of course need to be restricted to matchmade modes (so no custom games where you could arrange for a transaction) and you also wouldn't be able to gift anyone you were in a premade queue with (to prevent friending someone for the sake of transferring funds to them).

This system might even help reduce some of leagues toxicity. If players know that being friendly and stress free in their matches might occasionally earn them a mystery gift, they will probably be more likely to keep their cool and try to make friends in game instead of raging over every little thing.

Okay the first part is completely and utterly false because usually the goal of the Hacker is not to get to your RP (It is one of the goals) its to gain access to your account and then sell it off. Regardless of people gifting IP (Which btw i said to use my IP to get them a champion NOT flat give them IP) people will try and hack into other accounts regardless simply because they can and will steal the account for profit.

Also if it is made so that using IP to gift a champion to someone is made a one time thing (Making it so i can only gift player a one time period.) then nothing there is no real huge issue.

League has excellent account recovery, and because of the nature of league right now you cant lose anything (other than some elo I guess if someone hacked it and played shitty) if you get hacked and recover your account. It's not a lucrative business to buy and sell stolen accounts, since the buyer knows that the account could be taken from them at any time. This is something that riot posted about a few times when asked why league doesn't allow things like buying champs for friends with ip, trading skins, or transfering ip/rp tp another account.

i think we should be able to gift champs or something using IP to other players, like things we would use IP to buy for ourselves.

I bought a few champs with RP.

Specifically when there was a release with a cool skin i liked like mecha khazix for example and some others.
But yes your Idea is basically what my idea is except i think it should be limited to once per person. For example i gift someone a champ using my IP and now i can no longer gift that same person again using IP.
