To those that in every champ select type: "Tank support pls"

Supports are not real Tanks, nor do they need to fulfill the role of a frontline. My dream is to go in champ select knowing that my team will pick a comp which is balanced. so many times it happens that they just "find out" that the comp they picked is really squishy and they type for the last pick support "tank pls".. Support items don't give you the same stats a tank solo laner gets, and you don't really want the support to be in the frontline cause it just means your adc or apc is left alone in the back with 0 peeling, and ofc, he doesn't survive for long like let's say sejuani, zac, etc..

Am I wrong thinking that? Like I really don't think supports should fulfill this role, yes if there's no other choice, that might us well pick a more "tankish" support, but it still puts you in a disadvantage while the others are pleased thinking their comp is now perfect.

I think you are a couple of patches behind. With the exceptions of certain OP picks, Support tanks perform better at the role than Top lane tanks now.

I like to think of it as a request to pick anything that can engage/soak up damage. Good examples: Alistar, Leo, Braum, Taric, Nautilus, or Tahm. They've made some support tank items cheaper in the last patch while others are just stronger.

Tanks are definitely a good choice to round out a team, but if you go a support with a lot of cc like say lulu or that gives a lot of sustain without blowing up instantly like say sona, then there's not much harm done if you don't play that tank support

Honestly with the new support item buffs they feel like real tanks. At least when you get ahead enough xP

Though I do agree, unless you are fine with having no peel on the backline or don't have a backline than you should not ask for a tank support expecting em to engage / tank while also peeling.

I don't mind doing it, I just hate the expectation that I'll clean up their mess, because I'm already doing extra for them by playing a role they don't want. It just smacks of ultra laziness, but tank supports offer a lot of for the bot lane:

Targon's secures CS that other GI items can't They can shrug off a lot more poke than mages can I personally like being able to take Banner of Command and have it jive with the rest of my set.

The biggest problem I have with going tank support is this: So many players in this game are clueless morons. Like, they don't know that they don't know what they're doing. They thing they've unlocked the secrets of the universe through god knows what path, and that ALWAYS means chasing bait in the junglers while the enemy ADC, with half a clue and some map awareness, has exposed two of our inhibs singlehandedly.

When I'm a mage support, I have a shot at killing her. When i'm a tank, less so. And while I'm tanking, people should be following up my engages. Well since I'm attempting to push towers, and they chase bait, we're never in the same place. When I address this with them they say something that denotes a lack of frontal lobe like "Don't push solo as support."

Yeah, ok, well don't chase bait as a not-4-year-old.

Supports are not real Tanks

Depending on the champ i can't agree with this

nor do they need to fulfill the role of a frontline.

Yeah. Btw u don't always need a tank nor an ap (low elo need to understand this, my elo inclued).

Support items don't give you the same stats a tank solo laner gets, and you don't really want the support to be in the frontline cause it just means your adc or apc is left alone in the back with 0 peeling, and ofc, he doesn't survive for long like let's say sejuani, zac, etc..

I don't agree. usualy u don't team fight before 3 rd items (before its just skirmish), by this time support items are enough depending on ur champ.

item 3109 this is really strong imo, and its just one example.

Support items don't give you the same stats a tank solo laner gets

Tank top aren't tankier because items (only) but because they have a lead in xp and they start building tankiness since the first back.

Am I wrong thinking that? Like I really don't think supports should fulfill this role, yes if there's no other choice, that might us well pick a more "tankish" support, but it still puts you in a disadvantage while the others are pleased thinking their comp is now perfect.

Yes... u are wrong :

  • thinking support SHOULD'N fill is role. This role as toplane is really flexible.
  • thinking u SHOULD pick x because of ur mate. u pick either what u want to (or what's u know to play) or what's YOU thinks is better for this game.

from what i see, u are a Janna main... What's would be better than this pick atm ?? (except Lulu ). don't listen to them.

Just play, make ur choice and build ur experience

item 2303 item 3111 item 3109 item 3193 item 3065 item 3083 is a fairly cheap, reliable build that keeps your ADC alive SO MUCH. On average, as long as i finish knights vow first, i tank 400800 true damage and am healed for 5001200. But a lot of tank supports are just.. ."blegh" at best. Braum isnt very good in the current meta and is often minion blocked. Leona is great. Alistar works too.

My dream is to play ADC and have someone standing in front of me at any point in the game. Enemy chooses Blitzcrank Thresh Maokai support. Guess where they are? In front of the enemy ADC keeping you from hitting it.
