Hey Meddler? We would still like to talk with you guys about Kog's direction

Namely, that he doesn't really feel like he does any one thing exceptionally well at the moment. The idea that he should be the champ you build a whole team around because of oppressively high damage just... well. It never really works. In order for protect the Kog comps to really be a desirable thing to create, Kog's damage has to be so high that it's frankly unhealthy for the game.

It feels like you guys are trying to define Kog around a weakness. That would be like saying you pick Vayne because she's the only Marksmen without any long range poke. You pick a champ ostensibly because they bring something unique to the table, not because of something they lack. All Marksmen should be protected and enhanced so they can deal their ranged sustained damage safely. That isn't something unique to Kog.

Kog's player base has ideas. We love our champ and we know him well. But it feels like we've been getting talked at rather than talked to regarding him. Please, feel free to drop in and chat with us. We don't bite.

That's Chogath 's thing.

We don't bite, but we may spew vitriol. :p

Joking aside, I think they only thing they've said regarding Kog'Maw was something along the lines of "we're paying close attention to him," but that was weeks ago at the semi-un-rework. Then nothing, which is kinda similar to when they were fiddling with the machine gun version. Very frustrating.

I saw red replies in other posts asking stuff about other champions, from technical questions to planned direction to ability renaming. Some of them got pretty detailed answers. KogMaw questions, on the other hand, have only gotten silence.

(It could very well be that Kog'Maw is among a whole group of champions who're getting equal silent treatment, but I don't feel like doing the research. I've only looked at Red Tracker and specifically searched Kog posts.)

Hope they'll actually talk to us about it... but not exactly holding my breath.

It is kind of puzzling, isn't it?

You have to keep in mind Riot probably doesn't feel like they'll get much mileage out of spending time talking to Kog players. Kog is in the bottom five least played champions in the game, keeping Galio and Urgot company. This has been the case... well... pretty much any time Kog hasn't been disgustingly over tuned. Even at the absolute heights of Kog's power, I don't recall his pick rate ever really creeping much above 10%. Most of League's player base simply doesn't think Kog is fun to play.

I can tell you why, too.

He's a very low agency champion. Even more so since Riot remade his Ult. He doesn't make flashy plays like most other ADCs. Instead, he's almost purely reactive. And most players just don't enjoy that play pattern.

Strangely enough, I rather enjoy being reactive. Which is probably a really weird thing to say for an ADC main.... and a really weird way to play them. I prefer to let someone else make the first move so I can capitalize on it (if it was an ally) or punish them for it (if it was an enemy).... hopefully.... assuming everything worked out well for our team.

Maybe that's why I like playing Kog'Maw so much.

On that note, I think I'd enjoy a counter-attacking based champion.

I actually don't mind it either.

I think that's why I enjoy champs like Kog and old Malz so much. You're this inevitable death just daring someone to try to tempt fate and forestall their doom. And if they make the slightest mistake, they're consumed by the Void.

But it isn't a very popular style of play among League players, I don't think. People prefer flashy plays and cool, aggressive abilities. That's why Vayne is so popular even when she's absolutely awful.

If Kog ever DOES get an actual VGU, I really hope Riot sticks with the 'unstoppable force of hunger waddling toward you' play style. Even in Koggy's lore he's mostly reactive, eating everything the nomads throw at him (and then finally them once he's done with their snacks).
