Zhonyas, armor, exhaust, stopwatch, guardian angel, cc.... There is so much counterplay to Zed now he isnt even worth picking ever.

He is actually still pretty strong I think since his kit is just amazing with item 3147 . Now, I don't play assassins but I see a lot of zeds kill the adc with no counterplay. Then again, I also see zeds go like 1/6 or something in lane and then dive in 1v5. Classic solo que yolo things usually happen on high skill cap champions :P.

You dont need luck against Zed. U need skill. For example you laned against him as Ahri, instead of getting item 3157 u got item 3285

Zed has counterplay in teamfights as an adc in the wrong places though. Zed's kit screams please save me support tbh. He should 1v1 an adc unless it's vayne (fk vayne) with ease unless he misplays miserably. However he should not be 1 shotting with aa/duskblade e and melee q, he should use the shadow q to get the kill. Anyway, I don't think he's op, he just needs to get pealed by other people. Also, if you are talking about a no counterplay champion, you should see Akali in lane at top lane. Like, at least for a melee champion, that champion has no counterplay with her w. She's not broken (although slightly too strong) but her sustain and w = no counterplay :P. I think this whole "please save me support" thing with assassins is an issue on how supports counter assassins too hard and assassins are too good at countering the champion they are supposed to counter (adcs). Countering a champion or role can be good for the game but not in a way that makes them not have a say. At least with Zed you can at least see that he is going on you. Fking prerework talon was the most toxic assassin in the entire game. Good thing riot reworked it into something that I would say is really healthy and a job well done.
