Preseason 2020 Gameplay: Rise of the Elements

...it was that too much change is bad.
This is staggerring. I could rip this apart, piece-by-piece, pointing out the balancing difficulties. The boards are full of others who will do that. Broadly, though... this is TOO MUCH. There's too much here that will interact even with the OTHER changes. In more than one instance, the reason given for the change was "just because" (more-or-less).

This is going to be a disaster. Probably, these things could be done successfully, if slowly and gradually. But dumping the entire mass on pre-season, won't give enough time to recover, even by mid-Season.

We still haven't adjusted to "Runes Reforged". Season 8 was broadly considered to be the Worst Season Ever, and largely because too much was done at once. Considering that certain chaotic mechanics were rolled-back in Season 9, Season 9 may be judged as even worse.

Some of these changes, look attractive. But the game is too complex to allow changes of this scope and scale to be implemented in a pre-Season. ...

You don't need ME to tell you this. I'm really nobody.

And four months from now, it's not even going to matter that I said this here, beforehand.

I just want to play a game that works...

What exactly is "too much"? Small map changes everyone will get used to in a month? People were ok with playing NB on a whole new map, this change is nothing Drakes changing terrain? Again, everyone will get used to it pretty fast. And its not like its some secret passages or shit, you can just look at the minimap/map itself and see what changed. Or are you talking about other changes? Which ones?

Season 8 was broadly considered to be the Worst Season Ever, and largely because too much was done at once.

It was the opposite actually. Riot tried their new system of alternating between huge and small patches. Every second patch had something changed and there were no "stable" state of the game. Needless to say, it failed and they stopped doing this in favor of bigger midseason/preseason changes
