ok i understand,it makes sense.....but one thing in this way of thinking i dont understand... how is it then that thunderlords can be available much more frequently? as a counterpart to thunderlords i think it would be great ... my logic is next: it makes almost the same shield as thunderlord do dmg(max shield) so in order to maintain shields a bit lower than dmg in general( which is simply healthy for the gameplay), we give those shields cdr which is just slightly longer than thunderlords.....as i see it - with lower cdr(than now) it would give players more playability but still not being too strong nor shade its counterpart - thunderlords
Do you think tanks could be the majority or dominant in future games because of the buff i suggested, since they "couldn't die" (if using it most efectively)?
if that buff wouldnt lead to this then i dont see a problem in it atm .
for the sake of discussion, we shouldn't forget that using Courage needs more skill than using thunderlords to use it good enought
But i can agree it would be potentially op ,even more likely if it would be used in a shield sequence , so those cooldowns should be lowered more carefully than i sugjested... but still , lowered ... 45 - 30 just doesn't seem right no matter which way i look onto it
TLD requires 3 hits (autos or abilities) while CotC requires one specific hit (any hard CC ability). Debatable which is easier to activate, but probably TLD to be fair.
However, the shield strength versus TLD strength isn't an accurate comparison. CotC provides a true damage shield whereas TLD hits as magic damage. All MR on the user of CotC will reduce the damage from TLD thereby making CotC a bigger shield than TLD provides damage. Further, while the base value for TLD is equal to the base value of CotC at 3 enemies, they scale differently (30% BONUS AD and 10% AP versus 5% MAX Health).
It's much easier to buy Health than it is to buy AP or AD.
Gold cost for 1 HP = 2.667
Gold cost for 1 AP = 21.74
Gold cost for 1 AD = 35
(using Ruby Crystal, Amplifying Tome, and Long Sword, respectively).
Thus the 5% HP scaling is 21.74/2.667/2 = 4.075 times more effective than the 10% AP scaling is, not even considering the fact that the HP scaling includes your base HP (which goes quite high, like 1800+ (e.g. Malphite has 2104 base HP at level 18)).
The 5% HP scaling is 35/2.667/6 = 2.187 times more effective than the 30% AD scaling is (again, not considering the additional bonus that the HP scaling includes base HP but the AD scaling does not include base AD. Also a tank is likely to have at least 4 items with HP on them, whereas a damage champion will likely only have 2 or 3 items with AD as they'll also build Lethality or AS or Crit items).
Basically, late game CotC shields for WAY more than TLD applies damage. Both the scaling and the fact that TLD is reduced by MR result in the CotC shields being massive and the TLD procs being pretty minor by late game.
