People who play ranked for fun

first let me start by saying this is not a rage post XD ok so i know we've all encountered the guys in ranked who pick something off meta or play over aggressively and when they are questioned they reply "dude i don't care i am just playing for fun." so i have two questions first two people who do this why if your only playing for fun do you play ranked? i sometimes to want to just have fun or try something weird but i don't do it in ranked out of consideration for others elo. so why do you do it? the next question is what are some things that either we the community or riot could do to more emphasize firmly that ranked is for competitive and every other game mode available is for just goofing off? and i personally don't agree with trying to rank ban those people (something i have heard allot from others) because unless they state in chat they don't care there just playing for fun its impossible to tell who was yoloing or just having a bad day

i don't expect anything will XD tbh i am just curious as why the hell people would do it to me it seems incredibly selfish to others who are trying to gain lp its not like there is not any other mode to play i just want to know why

because people play the game for fun.... some people have fun playing ranked because it is more competitive, because you play against your peer grp, because there are rewards not given in other game modes....

I play it for fun and to gain elo... one of the biggest problems i had was i took ranked too seriously and it often made my gameplay worse.. Relaxing and playing ranked as if it wer a normal (not 100% normals but close) actually has me winning more games.

i get that my friend is the same way hes not a try hard hes very relaxed and carries hard..But he dose not troll i am talking more about the guys who are like lets go heimer blitz bot lane because it would be funny to pull people into turrets or the guy that 1v5 repeatedly just to see if he can

I haven't played ranked in awhile. I suck at it. 5 wins out of 27 games. I take it seriously. I don't like to feel like I am causing the loss for my team. Been playing ARAM a lot and I take that seriously too. I know that there are people that just want to play to have fun. Ranked is more of a challenge than norms. So they want the challenge, but they just want to play for the joy of playing. I see it from both sides. Why punish someone who wants to just enjoy themselves regardless. Though, people do take it seriously. Is a fine line to cross.

yeah im not in favor of really punishing them for it but maybe finding a way to let them know ranked is not the appropriate place to do such things XD and if your trolling its already going to be challenging in normals and it probably wont work in ranked unless your super low elo (like myself :c)

yes it is just a game but you never see any athlete ins ports ever say after a loss in a competitive game "its just a game" maybe during the preseason they do but not during the regular season because its COMPETITIVE not just for fun and no that's not different both sports like football and video games like League of legends are "just a game" but in both there is time to have fun and goof off there's also times to try hard and its not like your being forced to enter ranked ques i have lots of friends who dont play ranked because they dont feel like playing meta stuff and would rather "just have fun" and that's ok if you want to play just for fun go ahead just stay out of ranked its not the place to not try and win you have to realize this is not a solo game you have teammates and your messing around causes them to lose to and they lose lp and that makes the game unfun for them and therefore your being selfish to ruin others gaming experience so that you can "have fun" in a competitive envioment

curious... why should they not play ranked for fun?

i play this game for fun, if i like playing ranked, or i play ranked to play against my ability peer grp (unlike normals when a lv 10 faces a lv 30 diamond player) whats wrong with that?

just because you have different priorities doesnt mean everyone shares those priorities... and since that person playing ranked with a champ you dont care for is following all the rules (all other things equal).... whats wrong with it?

i dont understand how playing an off meta champ or whatever means you are not competitive....

also.... you think every other game mode is for goofing off... what if i disagree.... which one of us is right, or are we both?

ummm you still play with your peer group in normals there is a such thing as normals mmr if your playing with level 10s in normals that means your mrr is about that of a level 10 and you should definitely stay away from ranked so a level 10 will not end up playing against a diamond player unless the level 10 is queing up with someone who is way above him in mmr. and there is a difference from of meta and straight up trolling varus adc is not meta but tis not trolling adc thresh is trolling and honestly you cant call yourself competitive if you set yourself up to fail by picking and doing things that just don't work well hence the reason their not meta. And yeah the other modes are for when you don't want to try hard or have more than one friend to play with at a time so what if you lose a normal? nothing happens just have fun what happens if you lose ranked? everyone on your team loses LP
