6.9 Is the Nail In the Coffin For Me
I quit wow due to their changes over time removing ALL theorycrafting, character depth, math, and thinking, and it was a long painful process of believing it would get better over several years after playing from the start and seeing how great it was. Unfortunately, it just got worse and worse and I lost all hope of them being able to recover the game because there was no doubt left that it was 100% intentional.
This game filled that depth void for a while, but I started seeing the same type of changes, and, unfortunately over time they've gotten worse. I thought at first, "League's different," and "League is smart enough to see the mistakes Blizzard made, right?" and "WoW's failure, maybe it wasn't Greg Street's fault." (I really want to give him the benefit of the doubt. I don't know him personally, but it is VERY coincidental, that the dumbing down of league appears to coincide with him coming on board. Again, I hope it's not true, and that it's just the combined stupidity of leadership that has lead to bad decision after bad decision after lie.
It's become undeniable at this point that this trend is intentional, and I've lost all hope that it's going to recover. After sinking time, money, and admittedly only minimal effort due to having a family, it's disappointing to know 6.9 is the end for me, and is the unrecoverable cliff for LoL. It can never regain it's luster without full admission of guilt and sweeping reversions and that will likely never happen due to pride.
Mathematically speaking, the character, item, and skill tree depth has been reduced. Items, spells, and stats have been removed. Champions have been removed and replaced. We know for a fact (via twitter conversations with leads) that they desperately want to remove runes - they are trying to figure out how to do it without possible fallout due to the investments people have put into it. That would remove an entire layer, one whole fold of depth from the game. They've already almost completely removed mastery as a fold of depth from the game, and will likely reduce it's depth further in the future. These are all mistakes Blizzard made in WoW that Riot knew about, but chose to go forward with them anyway.
Dynamic queue's mess.
Knowing for a fact that that is the direction league is headed, cemented by 6.9, I know I can no longer enjoy this game or stick around through the painful process of its failure. So with that, I wish you all the best. I sincerely hope I'm wrong and can come back at some point after the game is recovered, but that's very unlikely looking at the facts.
*Tips hat.
