Remove Challenging Smite and Chilling Smite

Why is it okay for me to grind my ass off, cs, and beat my enemy laner in laning just to have it all removed with an AFK farmer who uses one summoner spell? Exhaust was nerfed for whatever reason, but red smite was untouched? All exhaust did was slow attack speed, movement speed, and decrease damage. Challenging smite decreases damage, deals true damage from basic attakcs, deals true damage over time like red buff passive, heals the user if used on a monster or minion, and deals true damage to monsters. How in the frick is that okay as a summoner spell? Chilling smite slows down the enemy, does true damage on hit, and has the same perks as the regular smite. Not to mention, both challenging and chilling smite give you extra xp. Why is it okay for a 15 minute booger picking, no threat facing all game, weaker enemy than me take all my damage away with a cheap ass item that has a much shorter cooldown than exhaust? The item is both an exhaust and ignite one. Chilling smite is like another hextech gunblade without the healing. Why can't you just have a regular ass smite ability? Why can't you just leave smite damage to monsters?

Most of the junglers mid potential is based off smite alterations so try not to make such absent-minded statements as to removing them entirely, gutting junglers in the process, anyway the reason its balanced is: It consumes an entire item slot Its only really that good in early-mid to mid game A jungler choosing to use this on a champion means that their ability to secure monster objectives is on cd it neither has the slow of exhaust and only "ignites" if the person is actively attacking you, making it effectively melee range.

Why are you asking for a staple to be removed because you dun goofed and decided it'd be a good idea to duel a fighter that had it in mid game?

Yeah but a match history doesn’t always say exactly HOW a player is playing. Maybe I lost some games because my opponents performed mechanically better than me. and a lot of my games I have lost because my team fed somebody like a Vayne, who would then wreck me after I dominated my leaning phase. I have countless games where I lost even though I had around 10-17 kills.

And I was commenting on the fact that you are complaining about an item that doesn’t really add that much of an advantage to a jungler. I may not know exactly what happened during that game, but from what I can see you tried to fight a Graves that is far more powerful than you, and you tried doing it alone. I almost always fight a powerful opponent with at least 1 other person, which can sometimes help push the fight in your favor.

You are absolutely right. Maybe for one or two games, but for you to consistently perform at that level either means A) It's a you problem or B) Something needs a nerf. And it does add that much of an advantage to junglers. I'll state it again, this is one example. An extreme situation that happens every so often. Even in games where I'm fed, all the jungler has to do is smite me and now I'm weak and I lose some healing effects. It's not like the jungler out-itemizes me and does more damage. No, they smite and they automatically turn the fight in their favor.

That sounds more like a you problem to me, I have beaten plenty of junglers when they smited me, I would just wait for the effects to end then walk up and kill them. If they use chilling smite, I just walk towards my tower to make them more overextended then kill them.

You are forgetting that when a jungler uses their smite on you they are giving up a powerful item for securing objectives like dragon or baron, if they use it on you just simply try and rush a drag/baron. The enemy team can’t contest it that well because their jungler doesn’t have smite.

Thank you. You are correct when it comes to using the smite. However, you don't need smite to pressure a turret or an inhib. Using smite to get a kill gives your team the opportunity to seize other objectives. There are plenty of cases where you can smite to get a kill to prevent a team from doing objectives due to the fear of contesting. I've been in plenty of situations where I used smite to get a kill or not get killed and lost drake or wasn't able to drake and honestly the drawback on it isn't a major one as the smite comes back up in 15 secs if used properly (Almost like a regular ability). If they decide to use smite on champ over baron while both teams are looking to baron, then that's the jungler's fault and not the power of the item. I'm not asking to remove smite just the added effects onto smite. I would be perfectly fine if they just made skirmisher's sabre and blade into a regular item that had the same cooldown as other active item cds or exhaust. However, I do feel as though the synergy between the items and the summoner spell is a bit overpowered.

I agree with you with most of your points, but I have a feeling that sometimes getting a kill with smite on a champ does not always mean fee objective. I would say that smiting the enemy jungler for the kill would be a good time to use it, because then there is almost no way for the enemy to kill baron while their jungler is dead, which means that you won’t get contested that much over baron/drag. Yeah I agree that smite is kinda broken when the true damage active component is used to execute somebody, cause then it unfairly kills them without some counter play.

To be honest, it doesn't give free objectives. That all depends on the aftermath. Using smite itself is an art that separates okie doke junglers from junglers who play the role on a regular basis, but when used the way it should, it is unfair. Especially when not all roles are as receiving to the benefits. If it was an item where everyone could use it, then it would still optimal for junglers, but it wouldn't be so unfair to the other roles. In fact, it would help out with the bruiser class as well as adcs who are always getting one shotted by everyone or it could just be used to shut down my argument with "Welp, if it that item is so op, why not buy it?"

Yeah I would like that to be an item for everybody, but there is a problem. Smite is intended for mainly junglers, if they added it in as an item/summoner spell intended for everybody then they would probably have to make it where somebody who is smited a lot by the same type in a certain time span will received reduced effects for each cast of smit on the person. So if 1 person uses chilling smite on an enemy person the next smite within something like 5 sec won’t get slow for the same amount of time.

Unless you went through the actual replays of my games, then I would politely ask you to not bitch about how I am not worthy to give input. Consider it a suggestion from one feeder to another.

And BTW match histories don’t give insight on how that person played mechanically, I could have made really good plays that ended up with my ADC/jungler getting kills, not get a single kill during the entire match and still lose that game.

Results are results. You failed to play properly therefore, you died. Match history perfectly tells how you played mechanically. For one, you didn't cs properly. Don't blame your teammates or how the enemy got fed off your teammates. With that said, it does not change the fact that red smite and blue smite are overpowered.

For you to have the match history that you have at your rank gives you no right to bring my performance up. Secondly, an example of a game where I feed does not deter nor rebukes my argument. There have been games where I dominated my lane and still had trouble winning fights due to the damage reduction on challenging smite. There have been games where I have won using the challenging smite. I fed in that game. SO WHAT?

If you honestly feel as though junglers need those extra abilities to function properly, then you are obviously enjoying the benefits of them. A junglers mid game spike should come from them farming, counter jungling, and itemizing, all the things that separate a good jungler from a bad one. The role itself has the most impact due to its roaming and objective control. For an ability to be exclusively effecient to one specific role and not so much the others is beneficial enough. Especially when that role already has the most impact in the game. Not only does it give junglers more power than they should have, it also makes the role braindead. Just AFK farm, pick up red smite, and you start winning trades with just an incomplete jungle item and nothing else while the rest of the roles have to actually buy a complete item to do that. Same thing with chillign smite, afk farm, pick up chilling smite, and if your enemy doesn't have flash, you get the kill with its slowing/ true damage.

I also use unsealed spellbook since it got buffed, so you can complain about the chilling smite+ignite or Challenging smite+exhaust combo late ;)

Well that is only if you get smite for your summoner spell during champ select. You can’t get any of the smite items if you get smite using the unsealed spellbook shards.

I do, smite+flash, and rotate others every few min. Things like Ghost, Exhaust, Ignite etc. added to smite makes ganks pretty ez.

Instead of trying to rebuke my argument from one or two games in my history, why not argue from the point I am making? You didn't need to bring my last game or two up to explain why red smite is okay because it does not explain why you believe it is okay. PERIOD. It isn't like I feed a Karma and then say nerf Karma. No I am talking about the item as a whole. Why not talk about how the item is not overpowered because of this and that? I would be more inclined to listen if you had actually argued on that basis and brought up other points other than my game, but to bring match history/mechanics into play only shows that you have no other reasons to say why it is okay. Take ADC items for example, no one said Statikk Shiv deals too much damage because you fed the ADC. NO. They nerfed it because the item itself offered too much to its users. Same thing with exhaust. Same thing with all the other items ever nerfed in the history of nerfs. Skirmisher's Sabre and Blade are no different.
